Surely Sky have to say he's leader now. A win on Alp Duez. Just give him the full team support.
-
• #1453
Are they waiting for Nibali? Fair play I guess
-
• #1455
Quick question - is it rare for the Alps to come before the Pyranees? Typically its Pyranees then Alps, non?
-
• #1456
Not sure Nibali would have waiting in the opposing situation, fair play to everyone (except may Bardet who got chased down)
-
• #1457
Geraint taking away all doubts as to who is top dog
...Froome
-
• #1458
Also think that Froome would have won, had they not decided to wait, and then burned matches chasing down Bardet.
-
• #1459
Decided to wait? The didn’t wait for anyone. They stalled as they were all blowing.
-
• #1460
Haha guy helping Martin was running funny :D
-
• #1461
But he has got the full team support. As has Froome.
This is standard sky isn't it?
Have 2 placed really well.
The playing the numbers view is that having both in really strong positions helps the team in their quest for the win.Isn't it?
Isn't it like QS?
It's not like Movistar as the three of them aren't good enough, in Sky there's one person that looks like they could win (Froome) and now another. Sky won't be concerned about ego etc at this point. They'll want the win. Whoever that is.
Right? -

Cycling used to be about who’s best and not luckiest, I’d prefer to believe it’s a gentlemans sport (except Contador)

The tour alternates between clockwise and anti-clockwise, so I undestand, and this year is clockwise, so alps first. Next year pyranees, and so on.
-
• #1464
I think they run it clockwise/anti clockwise, alternating each year. So, next year will be Pyrenees first.

At a guess sky now say the team rides for both Thomas and Froome until the last few Kms. Then it is down to the two of them as to who is stronger.
Delighted Thomas nabbed another time bonus today. -
• #1466
Stop talking Thomas
-
• #1467
Nah, if he had the full team support, then Froome would be last man on the Sky train and working for Thomas to keep the Yellow.
For me, if Sky want the win, then they've currently got it. Put the full weight of the team, not 80% of it, behind the man who leads the race.

Given GMBE's ability to crash, fall off, get something wrong, would you go all in? Or would you continue the stranglehold?
-
• #1469
Alpe D'huez, man
-
• #1470
Froome chased down Bardet, while Thomas took a breather behind Tommy Windmills.
-
• #1471
Geraint is quite explicit in saying he's riding for Froome.
-
• #1472
Mind games...

• #1473
That interview was excellent. It made me want a G-Unit win in Paris, but he was clear he has no expectations of carrying it all the way. He was right though.

At least two people tried to take swings at Froome on the Alpe d'Huez today. French TV also reporting that police seized liquids from fans that were meant to be thrown on riders. https://t.co/k9D5LmdP8f

@ Chalfie - Ha, he will probably have his crash at some point I guess. But if he does, then Froome steps in to yellow on GC placings anyway. I'm just excited for Thomas.
@ Mespilus - Looked like a Froome attack to me, as oppose to chasing down. I mean I know, it's a great tactical position to be in, and they can use it as an advantage, I just wanna see Thomas win tis all.
The fairytale continues...
