More on the EBH fine yesterday - his bike was broken with no team car in sight, so Sky have him a bike to continue on. Both EBH and Knaven were fined.
This morning EBH rocked up to the Sky team car and gave Knaven the money for his fine. 😂

What a great 'faith in Humanity' reaffirming story!

Well against the rules of the race it may be, but very much in the spirit of good sportsmanship. Something wholesome from cycling, makes a change.

That was one of the Sky good news stories that happened yesterday, along with Rod Ellingworth and David Millar being good friends and nice guys.

Last night I only got the Watchfinder one. Each and every break, just the one terrible advert. There he goes with his fake looking watch, crappy gloves and fancy Claris groupset. I quite look forward to it as a moment of light relief from the action.
Still going to buy my watches from Argos though.

The bike and watch should get better as the tour goes on.

You can imagine the convo with the ad. company
"Yes Tarquin, I see what you are going for, but why waste money getting a Pro cyclist - yes I know it might be more authentic but how much difference will it be if they shave their legs or not - the CEO's brother Ken is free and he's got a fancy bike he can bring along. No, no, he's quite thin. It'll be fine"

Now I cannot unsee the legs.

I like to think there was a mix up, and the cyclist and bike they arranged for filming didn't show. Quickly, thinking on their feet, they pop down to Halfords, drop £200 on a bottom spec Apollo and grab some gloves from the reduced bin, before heading back and wrapping up the shoot.
Bingo -it's in the can!

laner - thanks! never knew that. I've been tweeting ITV about their fucking auto un-mute. Ironically, all I got in reply was silence.

Someone liking David Millar is never good news.
It's not like he needs the encouragement.

Shame to see Rigo drop out. Thought he looked good the other day on the Excitebike Arena.

Ah, yeah. Forgot you could do that.

Yates hanging out with Lawson Craddock and Sagan at the back of the peloton.
Is he ill? He shouldn't really be losing time in the first week of mountains as a climber.

"No, pro mechanics definitely turn the bikes upside down and balance them on the bars and saddles all the time when fixing them"

Yes

In fairness to Watchfinder - they did manage to nail that Richmond Park laps feel with the scenery

Guess you're not shopping for Alpecin?
weirdly we were served last night's highlights ad-free on ITV hub
I wondered maybe if it has an algorithm that only lets an ad get served to a user a certain number of times in 7 days or something, and they have a limited number of ads tied to TdF coverage. we don't get the Watchfinder ones either.
