For that to happen, United need at least a decent midfielder to stand in and do some more grunt work.
And for United to have a proper idea about what their midfield will look like.

haven't we had this conversation before?
Maybe Fred is the midfielder to allow him to do that. So much of his freedom during the world cup, came from Kante doing the hard work.

Yeah. It's the standard "player in EPL does/doesn't do as well when in world cup because of players around them in EPL team/world cup team" "insight".
