I've got 42mm Grand Bois Hetres on another bike. They are great, feel plenty fast enough for me, very grippy and sure-footed. I'd like to try the Compass equivilant but the Hetres are taking ages to wear out, plus Compass are $$$

They do don't they? I managed over 10,000km before the tread in the middle starting to go smooth (and increase chances of punctures).
