Fell off in the stairs last night before even going out and crashed my SMP Forma.
So I'm looking for a black Dynamic if anyone is selling

I use a Composite on my road bike and its great. I'm looking for a slightly more padded one for touring. Which SMP is the next most padded one?
Anyone have any experience touring with SMP's in general?
Atm, I'm looking at either the Pro or the Lite 209

Blaster is basically a Composit with a small amount of padding. I believe 209 is a more heavily padded composit and doesn't feel much like a composit due to the padding.
Can't help regarding touring, I do all my rides on the Composit (albeit carbon railed version) as I prefer it over the Blaster which I tried for about 9 months on my commuter. Longest rides I've done are up to 140 miles.

What's the going rate for a used Composit?
Done about 6000km on it. Slight abrasion on the rear corners but still in nice condition. Will put up some pics tonight. Anyone that may be interested? -

Stupid question alert:
I see a lot of bikes with big saddle to bar drops using SMPs. Is this coincidence or does the saddle allow more for flexibility (hence the slammed stem)?

potentially. you changing saddles for tcr?

Indeed. Apologies, I got a pm after I posted so is dibsed for now. Going back to the Selle Italia SLR superflow for the TCR.
Whilst I never had any problems with the Composit, and indeed rode it a lot, I felt as though the conventional shape of the Superflow allows me to get the power down better if that makes sense. -

Selle Italia SLR superflow for the TCR.
You're a brave man

Ha :) I use one (Superflow) on my Planet X and have done all of my recent training rides on it. Rode LEJOG on it in 2014 too without issue. Will have large tub of sudocreme handy :)

I don’t know if the Selle SMPs necessarily promote a more flexible position but I imagine it’s just a selection bias, I.e. people with Selle SMPs are more likely to the be the sort of rider who slams their stem regardless of saddle choice.

There might be something in this.
I always defaulted to the narrowest saddle I could find (arione - basically a narrow plank) because all saddles felt crap and at least it’d allow the hip to rotate.
I ♥️ SMPs
^ irrefutable evidence of something. Maybe.

I'm falling out of love with mine, after a few years. Rode a hire bike last week in Gran Canaria with a normal saddle and found it enjoyable being able to move forward or back depending on what the riding was doing at the time.
I find the default position on my smp maybe too far back for that aggressive, over the bb position.@bananaskid i have an Extra on my cross check, toured a lot on it and commuted on it, it's comfy but ugly

SMP for MTB?
SMP Extra.
Cheap, ugly as sin but comfortable for all day riding and padded is useful off road.

Every once in a blue moon I use my Dynamic for mtb, was fine so far

I'm not getting on with the Fabric saddle on my Scalpel, may have to try an Extra - thanks.

So I have an evolution which I get on with pretty well and a composit which I used to think was ok but I've gone off...
Are there any others I should try to make sure I'm on the right one?
-
• #1350
Dynamic probably as it tends to suit a lot of riders.
What's made you go off the composit? Might give clues for ones to suggest.
Stratos - white with a patch missing at the back - 143 I think - £10 -sold
