  • Short notice for this coming Sunday, so I hope people can make it. For those who haven't been before, the forum's very own Murtle moved to Horsham a while ago and we're always keen to visit him. Please do come along even if you don't know him!

It's a fairly short ride and quite a lot of it is in London. It's about 35 miles and we usually do it in about three hours, leaving from the Coach & Horses at 9am to get there for lunchtime. Previously we've alighted on the Malt Shovel in Horsham, but I think we may go to the King's Arms in Bishopric this time. It has a nicer garden/backyard that we can bring bikes into. (Murtle to sort out.)

The route is via Tooting, Mitcham, Hackbridge, Woodcote, Coulsdon, Chipstead, Reigate Hill, Reigate, Leigh, Newdigate, Rusper, and Horsham.

I'll be fixed and will aim to ride back. The route is fixed-friendly except for the climb of Portnalls Road (not a hugely severe climb but quite long and one steep bend) and Reigate Hill downhill, but neither of those is too difficult.

  • Bumpety bump for those who didn't see this yesterday.

  • I might try to attend although I am not giving any guarantee.

  • Sounds fun. Might even be up for the return journey.

  • I'm likely racing.

Someone buy him a Fosters (probably a top or a shandy since we know he can't handle his booze) and fondle his arse for old time's sake.

  • Fings ain't wot they used to be. I've been wanting to hide his bike in a tree, but he never turns up on a bike. :(

  • Moving to the country and breeding... it's been the ruination of many a fine gentleman/gentlewoman.

  • Good luck with the race Chunks.x

  • Look forward to meeting you tomorrow, @mulv. For any last-minuters and/or perhaps hopefully @cgg, we'll leave at 9 sharp, so make sure you don't miss us. If anyone needs to catch up and you're close, we'll be going down Abbeville Road, Cavendish Road, and then the A24 to Tooting Broadway, where we'll turn left. The weather looks perfect for riding, no rain, not too hot, not too cold, and slightly overcast.

  • Yep, see you 9 on the dot!

  • I'm gonna sit out of this unfortunately, taking it easy after North London Dirt today. Have a good ride :)

  • What, they've moved Norths to Saturdays?

    Enjoy your Sunday!

  • This was a lovely, 100% fixed ride (out of a possible 100%) with excellent conversation and food. Great to meet @mulv and enjoy the quiet and secluded beer garden at the King's Arms. It was much hotter than expected, and very dusty. We'll do this again in September, so make sure you mark September in your diaries.

  • Thanks for the great ride @Oliver Schick and nice to meet you @31trum. Not a great start with the nail incident but ended up being a ripper day. Cheers!

  • Nice to see you both. And nice to meet you @mulv.

  • the nail incident

Pic or it didn't happen. :)

  • I also forgot that we passed some kind of moto-cross race. The British Two-stroke Club was not even a smelly memory when the race triggered a search for lost time.

  • I am in the Postal Museum, which is brilliant.

Check out this post pentacycle that was popular (only) in Horsham.
