GVA poker face in pre-stage interview: 'probably my last day in yellow'
Nah fuck that Imma go in the break...

Lawson Craddock home six mins before the gruppetto. Would love to see him have a crack at getting in a break.
-

How lush it must be for a domestique for the yellow jersey to get into the break, total day off. Unless you gotta do it with him.
-
• #1030
Is he not quite doing enough at the moment? ;o)
Quite amazing though, the velodrome donations are fantastic. Maybe healing a wounds besides his own.

I do like the Sky kit, Orca on the back on point. A holiday in the Gower and a couple of days walking off the beach with as much rubbish as we could carry really bought it home. I do want to volunteer for clean ups when I can.

I don’t get what they are actually doing re single use plastics though.
I re-use my bidons already. I think Sky still are not as they couldn’t sterilise them or something like that.

Vaughters could donate their entire TDF bonus budget cos the riders are going to get fuck all.
The team time trial effort to get Uran back on that lost him time FFS

And all the gel wrappers that I presume they're still just throwing at the side of the road
-
• #1035
Well anything that spreads the message is good. Bidons are all bio-degradable these days, the tour has litter zones and you see them unzip and drop all their gel wrappers in them, they stuff them up their jerseys until them. Bidons are frequently thrown towards fans.

Oooh tasty interview with Froome "we are all on the same page" but not saying what the page is.
-
• #1037
Yup normally bidons go to fans, and I heard there are cleaners that mop up the route post-stage I believe. I have seen a number of riders stashing wrappers so far.

Was a bit odd Froome being left to fend for himself on the gravel bit whilst he also seemed to be the only rider allowed to speak to the team on the radio in other bits

Dimension Data should chip in with their unspent budget too

Are we not going to mention that if it was a Brit that made a 30km solo break he must be dosed up to his eye balls with whatevers on the menu? Instead it was by a Frenchman that is in the most successful team for race wins this year..
Fantastic ride none the less.

• #1041
Er, well that kinda spoiled the mood
-
• #1042
Except Froome's break wasn't 30km it was 80km.
I didn't think he was juiced then and don't now but think whatever rider made that breakaway to go into pink would have faced the same disbelief. A rider way off GC doing a 30k break on a mountain stage isn't the same thing.

Pretty much what Cummings was doing a couple of years ago, I don’t remember too many moans then
-
• #1044
he sprints as quick as the so-called pure sprinters now, he never used to.
Then how did he get so close all these times? ;) if you look up his 2nd and 3rd places and see what company he has kept over the years...

He never used to
Fucking hell.

Haha I was expecting that to be challenged. I think he emerged as a classic puncheur, strong and explosive. Then he just got better and as he did he got isolated. I mean we used to joke about how he was always second.
Then he just started winning but it was maybe not until that WC sprint when he beat Cav as a turning point when I would say he can basically beat the best on the flat, then pop off up a mountain in the break a day later. That is special.

that WC sprint
That was Dumoulin

Ahh Sagan BH.
Before hipsterfication.

From my Facebook memories today. I often wonder if he’ll keep his promise to come back and be a provider of the lols again.

Sagan has always had a great sprint, but he looks stronger and smarter now. Also the 3 main riders that put him in 2nd and 3rd are currently not performing (Greipel Kittel Cav)
He is also at the peak sprinter age I think, in a team that lets him do what he wants.
I think everyone was hurting from Kwiatkowski’s turn. Poels managed about 30 seconds then swung off and Bernal turned the screw.
