  • Phil and I (Stokey locals - Publish the Ride Journal etc) decided we'd like to support the New St Mary's Centre in N16. (The house the Hackney Homeless Shelter, Food Bank and Migrant Centre among many other community groups).

So we put together an event.

A sixty eight mile loop through North East London taking in as many back roads, dirt tracks and gravel paths as we’ve been able to fit in. We've had lovely support from bike companies we've ridden with over the years... AND amazing local breweries! Do come and ride with us... and support a great local cause!

    Some info here:

    londondirt.eventbrite.co.uk

    And here:

It is not a hand-holding sportive, you won’t have signs telling you which way to go, a table full of banana halves and an oversized t-shirt to collect at the end...

What you will have is a mighty fine coffee (courtesy of Rapha's Spitalfields Clubhouse) to send you off (in waves of 10), a unique route AND a quality locally brewed beer waiting for you at the end. You will also have a chance of winning one of many great prizes that our sponsors have kindly donated for this event.

You'll be riding a bike with tyres suitable for road and some off-road - bearing in mind you'd be pushing it a bit with slick narrow tyres on some of the dirt tracks.

You will be totally self-supported, riding with everything you will need to finish a ride of this length. We'd suggest two spare tubes.
(This is the bit where we say: We, the organisers have no responsibility for riders or bikes in any way on this event).

Out on the route, you’ll find the hidden brevet control, and get your card stamped to qualify for the draw.

On your return legendary breweries Pressure Drop and Beavertown will support the cause with some righteous local beer.

Then there will be the prize draw.
Some of our favourite bike friends, Condor Cycles, Brooks England, Brother Cycles and Rapha have all kindly kicked in amazing kit. So you don't have to be racing whippet fast to win this one!

How great does all that sound?
AND remember 100% of the profits are going to go to the Centre.

Good riding, good coffee, good beer...
AND you're doing your bit for charity!

  • This looks great. I’m up for it, subject to getting a hall pass from the family, and am trying to talk others in to it too

  • ACE!
Look forward to seeing you there Brain-Stew.
It's a cracking, pretty tough route.

Hell, you'll have earned those beers!

  • Looks great.

    Signed up.

    Looks forward to tire chat

  • Next weekend. Looking forward to this after a lovely ride following the 2017 waffa HOTN route

  • Weather should be good. It's riding very hard, very dusty! Time to get the big tyres on!

  • ticket bought. see you there.

  • Can you get on to our mutual friend Craig and badger him to enter? He now has a cx bike but could do with a little tlc before the day so needs to get his skates on

  • just got the route email
looks good, plenty of stuff I've ridden before and plenty I haven't
    anyone else going?

  • I think I'm about to enter

  • Might be able to get a pass.

  • yeah!! come join! I'm gonna be on the 29er MTB, let's see what 100k on Nobby Nics is like

  • Pls send me the route

  • can you post route?

  • Just checking that I've understood this correctly- it's £22 to ride round Essex and a bit of Epping?

  • not going to post the route out here yet, don't think that's fair because...
@Gregory no, if you read it, all the money is going to a good cause, which you can read about here -http://www.stmaryn16.org/the-new-st-marys-centre.html

  • So it's sold out, what do I do now?

I'll feel like a dick if I just turn up on the morning without registering.

I'm thinking get the route from a friend, turn up and find someone to donate £20 to?

  • They said in the confirmation email that they'll accept additional donations on the day, so I guess it wouldn't too much of a problem to turn up, donate and ride?

  • This was good

  • incredible day out
thanks howard for ace company and a quick fucking ride!

  • Yes, super good ride! I'm well shattered.
