I've got a slightly eccentric route round Surrey with less (but still some) hills, and even some gravel.
I've never ridden it all in one go, or even done some of the roads in the right direction, but it would be a nice summer loop and I'm sure we'd muddle our way around, if anyone was interested...

40 miles with hills (even if less) might be a bit much?
Re Hemel, groupsave should bring the return down to £12, how does that sound?
-
• #104
Actually, I'm getting returns at £14.6 from National Rail, without groupsave. Gets under £10 pp with groupsave.

The ascent of box hill is optional which cuts it down to nearer 30... but yeah, happy with hemel.
A long way for a ride out so should be some takers for the train to get the groupsave going.

Hive mind, what's the best route BACK from Brighton? Any advance on following the forumongerer approved route out in reverse?
-
• #108
Use the Ditchling Devil Route to "make a day of it"? Otherwise the forum approved route is the best most direct way I have seen.
-
• #109
Cheers boss I'll take both, just in case..

Anyone fancy a ride this Thursday?
-
• #111
Ha, it's this Thursday again. Yes!
-
• #112
Yep!

Welwyn?
There is also this American bloke popping over for a bit of golf and to meet the Queen. He's some sort of reality show type celeb. Apparently there's a bit of a welcoming party happening, shouldn't get in the way of the ride but I'd understand if any of you were attending that instead.

Welwyn sounds swell.

Is this an off or on week? / is anyone up for a ride?
-
• #117
It is an off-week. I could be up for a ride.
-
• #118
Tell me more...
-
• #119
Well, I haven't been South yet this year; or alternatively, I've never ridden the Amersham route.
What do you think?
-
• #120
I could also be persuaded to have a spin out this Thursday night.
-
• #121
In, but only if the weather is nice
-
• #122
What is the Amersham route?

Train from Marylebone 1918, get there at 1950. Last train 2309. If I understand this correctly, this is on the Oystercard and a return trip would amount to £8.20. Don't quote me on that.

I'm just lashing out because I can't make it and am jealous
Pricey indeed, surely the groupsave will water this down a bit?
