Hope you're enjoying it out there, I'm pretty sure the gel flow at least can be stripped but I'm sure the cutout is going to be pretty painful/damaging to clothes if stripped.
I found good stripped saddle to be ok but just too hard for rougher roads/that odd time you hit a pot hole, it's like a serious punishment :/

Cheers Indra, is nice but damn hilly! Hm, I thought as much. Maybe not such a good idea considering the roads around here are pretty terrible. In that case I'll probably end up getting this - http://www.wiggle.com.au/selle-italia-slr-lady-flow/ - and not stripping it. Just a shame they have to fucking put pink on everything!

The pink bits look to be glued on top? if so then maybe get the scalpel out and cut the pink layer off?
Just realised its a 90quid saddle, so prob not such a good idea

Sounds like you might need to find a Selle Italia SLR Gel Flow.
Swear by 'em. Mine are from 2005-2006 though, the graphics are more rank now.I stripped one of these and I've been riding it for around a month now. If I'm tired and sitting heavy in the saddle and hit a bump unexpectedly it can be a bit of a shock but otherwise no problem, I like it more than when it had padding for sure.

Anyone ever stripped a turbo? Not sure how well that might work.

Does the Selle Italia SLR Carbonio strip the same as a plastic SLR? Or is there something I should know?

I have stripped a San Marco Aspide saddle this weekend.
The leather cover had a couple of scuffs and the red colourscheme doesn't go with any of my current builds.
It originally looked like this (sorry I didn't take before pictures or weight):
http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=3798084;Now it is like this at 136gr - the shape looks good, shell seems smooth enough. I will need to try it before reporting.
I will probably sand the dimples and drill out the raised section in the middle but I am happy about the shape/weight in general.

Dredge time.
Managed to get hold of a really ratty SLR on ebay for the princely sum of £17 and thought I'd give stripping it a go. I used to have a carbon-ti SLR that I got on with well (until I shattered the nose off it) so thought this was worth a shotWeight weenie etiquette fulfilled:
30mins of hairdryer, acetone and a couple of thumb blisters later, the cover came off:
Cleaned up with only a few minor scuffs. It's actually lighter than the other full carbon titanium railed one I had before!
Sat atop the relative boat anchor seatpost:
Pretty pleased with how it looks!

This may be the place to ask - I rode an old Selle SLR last year for a few weeks, borrowed from my LBS as they ordered in a new one. The old one fit me beautifully, the new tore a hole in my arse. The shape of the thing had changed subtly but significantly.
So with that in mind - what new saddle, of any brand, would be closest to the old SLR? -

Dredge (again)
Been getting on really well with a stripped SLR, apart from realising the other day that the edges were started to cut my bibs a little bit.
One £4 leather offcut, one pair of good scissors and a pot of tubular glue later...

Thats smart, I've been meaning to do the same thing for about a year now as I find stripped SLRs plenty comfortable but slide about on them a bit much!

Been thinking of doing this to my SLR's too, but can't be arsed to source the leather. :)

Best way to remove the nub in the middle?

Hot water and rub it with your finger just to soften that glue

UTFS'd re: stripped SLR Flow. Just discovered myself asking the same question 7 years ago...
Anyone stripped an SLR Flow saddle? does it still work out ok with the space in the middle, I see no reason it shouldn't but just wondering if anyone else has done it and has pics?
Anyone stripped one since then?

I did.
No problems whatsoever.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I need help. I've ridden a stripped SLR and really like it but can't manage any decent miles on it. It was fine for riding around London but I've moved to an area where my commute is a 40 mile round trip. I'm currently using a Fizik Arione, which is no more comfortable. I still get the same pains after 30 or so miles. I'm certain I need a saddle with a cut out, so with that being said, can either of these saddles be stripped?
