high hopes. as long as there are no BMC team cars in the way :-/ he now has to conquer the Alps with a (or 2) broken finger(s), ouch

Christ. Perhaps it was the ambulance that stopped?
Either way it’s also his fault a bit. -
• #905
That’s really spinning!
-
• #906
racers have to look ahead of course, then again, best to not have team cars on the pavé
-
• #907
motors!
Or
Had it in a high gear for cobbles. Comes off, chain ditches, does the old FD shift down shift up whilst cranking the pedals trick to pull the chain back over the big ring.
-
• #908
This exactly (second paragraph that is)
Btw his cranks were also finishing a spin -
• #909
Looks like he gives the pedal a kick with his left foot as he's lifting it up
-
• #910
Nah for sure it’s a motor, don’t be so sensible.
-
• #911
In that entire clip the cranks rotate less than a quarter turn and seemingly in the non drive direction.
What I can't see is if the wheel is in contact with the ground at any point in the clip, or even if the rear wheel is spinning at the beginning of the clip.
-
• #912
Watching the height of the saddle it becomes clear that the rear wheel is elevated off the ground for the entire duration of that clip. Ergo it could easily have been already spinning due to previous pedal action.
Nothing to see here. Move along.

I'd bet the uploader has edited out the preceding few seconds where Skujins is spinning the cranks to check brake/gear/whatever alignment.

All this envy from folk who can't afford ceramic bearings.

Interesting dynamic in Sky: Thomas seems to think leadership will be decided on the road, Knaven and Froome not so much.
Also did Porte break something? He seems to think so but the Guardian said he dislocated his shoulder and his team owner didn't think so either.
-
• #916
Porte says he did, so I’d believe him and accept he broke his collarbone.
Either way he was clearly in serious pain and no place to continue.

I knew it!
Firing up Twitter now - this is worth at least four new followers

When u r stating FACTS u need CAPZ.

• #920
Wouldn't the bike start moving forward as soon as the rear wheel hit the ground, if it were powered by a motor?
-
• #921
I don't think it necessarily would because aren't they only supposed to add 10 Watts or something?
-
• #923
The "he didn't break anything" shit was all reported before he'd been to the hospital.
OMG! Those x-ray glasses were real!!!

It's 2018 critical thinking is DEAD. FACT.

I'm really enjoying this years tour. It's the first year the kids are getting interested in it too.
