I wasn't so lucky in the end: cut-off date is either four years after manufacture or maybe purchase date (mine was April 2014) or two years from when the recall announcement was in 2015. So no joy for me, but the issue is pretty much confined to the top-left bezel. Maybe I will rue my decision but I settled for 10% back from the seller.

Is there anywhere that sells genuine lighting cables cheaper than Apple? Fed up of buying £7 Anker cables from Amazon that only last a few months.
-
• #12980
What are you doing to them!? I've had anker cables that have lasted the last three years and still working perfectly.
Buy the braided ones...
-
• #12981
Don't the Anker ones have a lifetime warranty? They'll probably just send you a new one if you email

New sneaky MacBook Pro's out today, 13" is meant to be double the speed and the 15" even faster.
I7 and I9 processors too and finally 32gb ram.So glad ive held out to buy one although they are still super expensive one big flaw.

13” is now perfect.

a good 50% extra money though

You can now spend more on an external you that should probably be inside the Mac... And no keyboard fix.

Can buy a 24tb tb3 raid for the cost of their internal SSD upgrade :/ still want etc
-
• #12989
50% on what tho. I priced up the top spec one a few months ago and it was the kicking the arse off 3K now its £3689 minus student discount which is like 3.3 more yeah but the specs miles better.
Although has been mentioned they haven't fixed the keyboard issues tho or have said they have but haven't really.
-
• #12990
If I was a student I'd be thinking about the massively increased value proposition of a used machine right now, not about spending north of £3k on a laptop that does the same thing but fractionally faster. Yes there will be some use cases which legit benefit from the improvements, but goodness me that's a lot of money.

Or they have and kept it quiet? According to The Verge
So at best, I can tell you that the keyboard does seem quite a bit
less clacky than current MacBooks, though key travel is the same.which points at something's been changed. It makes no sense for Apple to not fix the keyboard now they repair it for free. It also makes little sense to announce a bit 'we fucked up' when it only affects a few % of users

They have a fairly sizeable department just focusing on the keyboards. They’ve probably refined the design enough that it’s at least reliable now.
-
• #12993
Im not a student, and its gonna go through my business anyway but even a little saving can go elsewhere.
Yeah I suppose they might have refined it a little and as you say they will never come out and go we fucked the previous 3k laptop we realeased a year ago.

Adobe are apparently bringing the full version of Photoshop to the iPad.
Intel must be shitting themselves. This basically means you could run the whole of creative suite on Apple’s chips.

All I want in life is a chromebook that can run a passable video editing programme.

Seems like the True Tone display will adapt the white point of certain connected monitors

The new keyboard mechanisms are covered in silicone to stop dust from getting in.

• #12999
I've been toying with the idea of getting one of those silicon keyboard covers, it popped up as a suggested purchase on Amazon the other day when I was looking for something else... Seems rather sensible, I've already had a stuck full stop key on my new machine...

Thanks so much, man, but it looks like her machine is fubar/cactus/deceased... She's looking at buying an iPad Pro at the moment...
She's killed a laptop, an iPad and now her phone in the last twelve months, dunno how she does it!!
