More fucking questions, sorry:
I have tubeless ready Hollowgram (Stan's) rims and Schwalbe Pro One tyres, what brand of sealant shall I get?
Does anyone any experience of the water-based Finish Line stuff?
Is any particular valve ideal? Brand?
My rims are smooth, I don't still need the rim tape do I?
What are you people up to over the weekend?

effetto mariposa or orange seal
no
all valves work, nothing is 'bad'
smooth? no holes? I didnt know stans made any like that. Post pics, it might be a dark coloured rim tape that might be playing tricks on your eyes.
maybe a short ride in Kent

Finish Line sealant has had questionable reviews
Schwalbe sealant is rebranded Stans
I have been generally happy with Stans but have been told that Orange sealant may be better.
Are you sure your rims are Stans, not WTB?

Big fan of the Effetto Mariposa stuff. Does not contain ammonia, so less corrosive. Foams up which helps with any cuts that might develop in a sidewall.
In terms of valves anything with a round bung and removable valve core.

Interesting. Might try the Orange Seal. Although the Finish Line is good too appaz.
I guess I'll need valves with a removable core and they'll need to sit properly within the rim.
The rims have a completely smooth off-white finish inside, no holes.
Nice!

Most likely tape.

Find some busted inner tubes and just cut 'em out.

@frank9755 what tubeless tyre did you use for tcr?
-
• #2611
dont

• #2612
Why?
Tubes let me down today!
I like to flirt with the idea every now and again! Grass is greener.

Learning curve; maybe an invalid requirement for you.
Availability; catastrophic failure on tubeless in Europe is hard to resolve without having to resort to inner tubes so essentially you will be doing it for the first few punctures. Marginal gains. Worth it?
GP 4000 SII; this tyre alone makes the argument for tubeless on road bikes kinda invalid. Then fast but fragile stuff like Turbo cotton, G+ etc.
Anything beyond 30/32c its 100% worth going tubeless.

Yeah this is the same recommendation I had elsewhere so I think it’s right.
Maybe I needed more pressure in the front today (75psi 32c). But punch flats are a pain.

• #2615
Do it after the race as a equipment prep for next TCR ;)
-
• #2616
That was my plan this year, then I decided that tubes work well and tubeless is a pain if it goes wrong, like you say.
To be fair gp4000s are not meant to be ridden down dirty gravel descents.

ive gotten away with riding gp4000s on a fair bit of gravel
definitely scared the entire time I was about ruin a sidewall but I got away with it!
-
• #2618
But if using the tubeless set up saves 5 or 6 puncture stops and then an inner tube is deployed it has only been of benefit.
-
• #2619
How are you flatting 32c at 75psi?
What tyres?
-
• #2620
Pinch flat, hit a rock or something doing a gravel descent and 20mph.
Gp4000s 😂

Has anyone tried the new Specialized turbo tubeless tyres? Currently on Pro Ones which need changing.
-
• #2622
Wowza. 70 smackers each at Evans. Have you thought of IRC?
-
• #2623
But yeah, the IRC are amazing, especially for commuting.
-
• #2624
I'd love a set of the 24mm but still £70 quid each. I mean come on!
-
• #2625
the IRC are amazing
what do you say @Klar ?
What could possibly go wrong?
