It's always been the simplest explanation, that Trump is just being blackmailed by Russia. But you risk sounding a bit nuts, or a bit airport-thriller-writer, saying it. It's not nuts though, is it?

Seems by far the most likely, or that he's simply being played by some internal US force. Everything else seems to demand he be knowledgeable about US geopolitical history, and have some passion about disrupting it which I really don't think he is / has.

Trump is a front man for the plutocracy running the US. Pence is the guy in charge, far more evil than Trump, and a cunning strategist. He is always lurking in the background with a smirk.
