  • Shelvey

wtf. do people really think this? He's too thick. We need a Xabi Alonso, not a Gerrard with less good bits.

  • karius made two more howlers at the weekend, thought his fuckups vs madrid might have shaken him up a bit and focused his mind, sadly the instagram video of his summer hols did nothing to allay those fears then the fuck ups
we're still 2 for 2 in pre season but he has to face the consequences

  • The team did as well as we could hope and I enjoyed a bit of shameless ingerland supporting in a way I haven't really since '96.

We do lack any true creativity in midfield and as the game went on we were trying more and more to bypass midfield altogether. Kane was missing his Eriksen, Sterling was missing his De Brune or any of the world class support he has at City. There are the U20s world cup winners still to make the step up so perhaps we have another golden generation on the way soon. Although I worry for Maitland-Niles and Nelson at Arsenal, I suspect the pressure on Emery to get results quickly will see them sidelined in favour of more tried and trusted players.

  • It’s all gone a bit fucking armchair England manager in here this morning.

The one thing we’ve learnt in the past month is that we have a decent England manager and we should let him get on with it.

  • its what a positive tournament display will do for you..

I'm sure we'll be back to this if we get off to a bad start in the euro qualifiers

  • They should be looking at the U17/19/20 squads who have all won tournaments in their age groups.

  • Those kids will all get a run out soon enough if they can make the grade at senior level, the future for English football looks a lot brighter than it has in many years but people need to calm the fuck down...

  • I'd be gutted to lose him.

  • Yeah know what you mean, hopefully Southgate has his eye on whose the next most likely to succeed, from those age groups. But the meaningful playing time is out of his hands. If they don't get first team football to kick on and improve at the club they are at, then loans/transfer to smaller/more willing to give them playing time club, is probably in order.

I'd only look at those squads if there was/is a spurs young 'un involved, like Onomah and walker peters, so my knowledge of the others and their possible potential is seriously limited...

I'm also assuming our progression to the semi-finals means Southgate now has time, space and authority to further mould the England set up to improve not just the first team, but also the youth team set ups as well...

I'm done now, off to see who Spurs might be buying.

  • Well, he's managed to change Benitez's mind since January and he was one of the main reasons Newcastle stayed up. Compare and contrast with the attitude shown towards Mitrovic (who would not learn and thus was binned). Depends on whether it's a short-term thing or he's genuinely learnt his lessons. But there is a surfeit of English players who can play the passes that he can.

  • Grealish will be prime for the euros. Came on really well since his injury last season - much stronger, stays on his feet and passing is still sublime . A couple of seasons under the sheriff playing with decent players around him and I reckon he'll be the real deal.
And I'll be sobbing into my craft ipa.

  • But pinging passes like that isn't the way this England team plays. Incorporating a player who needs lots of time, makes rash decisions, isn't the way forward.

  • has he lost the attitude problems and told his dad to stfu ?

    #grealish

  • Yes. Seems to have grown up now. Terry really helped last season. Think his dad is still involved though.

  • Not at Chelsea they won't

  • Conte gone?

  • Foden MAY be the answer, but we'll need more than 70 mins of PL football to tell. However, if he's picking up tips by playing alongside David Silva, he'll be exactly what England need. If he or AN Other come through, than England have a great spine with Pickford, Stones, Foden and Kane for the next 2 world cups.

  • Speaking of Foden, his 18th birthday cake was pretty special

  • but will he get that playing time at City, behind both Silva's, De Bruyne, and whoever else Guardiola puts in the centre of the park?
Does he have to go out on loan somewhere? Or wait for injuries/cup runs to get some playing time?

  • If he's good enough, he'll start playing in place of David Silva who is 32, and you can't buy players like Silva. Hopefully he'll get playing time in LC and FA cup and Europe.

Here he is playing street football with his mates.

  • He's got that Stirling upper body thing going on....

  • Conte sacked and Maurizio Sarri incoming at Stamford Bridge. Odd time to do it.
