• Shifts up on its own. Theres so little space on 11 speed the chain catches the next cog, then it shifts, chain tension becomes very high, you can't pedal anymore and the wheel is really hard to remove.

    Happy to be proven wrong, but until someone shows me a working singlespeed botch with 11 speed stuff I say it doesn't work. Maybe if you're real lucky with the combination of chainline and chain lengt thats available. I remember that I managed a long time ago with 8 speed.

  • I had the same problem at brother in the wild. Also leads to a destroyed cassette and a very expensive weekend out.

    The solution for single speeding is to apparently reverse the order of some of cogs so the step up is too high.

    Change cog order makes sense. But yes, no cassette tool. If I was to go remote places I would probably opt for 8 speed.
