Well, he's managed to change Benitez's mind since January and he was one of the main reasons Newcastle stayed up. Compare and contrast with the attitude shown towards Mitrovic (who would not learn and thus was binned). Depends on whether it's a short-term thing or he's genuinely learnt his lessons. But there is a surfeit of English players who can play the passes that he can.

Who knows who'll come through in the next couple of years? There's plenty of talent in the academies, depends on whether they get the opportunities or whether they go and play abroad like Sancho/Lookman have done. None of us have a crystal ball, but it's definitely looking more positive today than it did the day after the Iceland game in 2016...
