chainring sounds worn. Also using a MTB crankset will be pushing the chainline out
-
• #1028
Yeah, chainline does look a bit less than perfect

What groupset do you have? The back tyre rubs the front derailleur (Tiagra 4700)

58cm Straggler frameset. £310 posted.

Rad! what fork did you pair it with? Want me a 1x1 so bad :O
-
• #1033
It's a custom Orlowski jobby. Same length and offset as the original.

I've just got one. Still got to dial the gearing as it's a little bit spinny at the moment - first SSMTB and now I have no geared bikes at all. Steamroller for the road/commute and the 1x1 for fun!

• #1035
Right on. No gears no problems! imgur link shows no picture btw

Gah! The uploader's not playing ball for me either. Anyway, link should be fixed now :)

Straggler/Disc Trucker fork owners, how would you rate the fork?
I thought about putting one on my Pompino but someone in the Pomp thread said they'd had a Surly fork (Crosscheck I think) and found it pretty flexy.
I have a Steamroller fork on another bike and hadn't noticed any undue flex.
I'd still like like to get one for my Pomp I think and I have a mate who is now also looking for a steel disc fork with good tyre clearance, mounts for all the things and that won't upset his geometry and the 26" Disc Trucker fork seems to be the only non-custom option.

Srs? Read the thread

Sorry man.
Cheers for the link.

Ha! Just realised what M_Vatwork is.

Did you go for this? I have a Straggler fork to swap onto my Steamroller, but wondering whether a 27.5 inch one of those might be a better option.
That would fit 700cc plus a 35mm tyre?
-
• #1044
Not yet, but it's still the plan.
27.5 version of the fork is a great idea for a steamroller, only 5mm difference in fork length. Surly reckon 650x42 is the max for the 650 straggler but I reckon you'd fit 700x38 if it's 5mm taller than the steamroller fork

Hmm very tempting, very good price.

I've just realised you're talking about the ebay carbon!!

'the fork' i was referring to here was a straggler 650b fork, even a 26" version of the toseek fork would add 50mm to the fork length of your steamroller - no idea what that would do to handling but I'd imagine it would be dramatic

• #1047
Ah never mind then haha. Let's just delete everything and pretend it never happened.
-
• #1048
tbf you prompted a good discovery about how suitable the 650b straggler fork is for steamroller, someone should try that

Question about my surly troll the old one with the stock fork and I’ve got a surly nice rack on the front: the steering is pretty unresponsive but then oscillates strongly.
Too much weight on the front?

Cheeky 2nd account to get around the firewall at work ;)
I had thought about trying this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOSEEK-1-1-8-Mountain-Bike-Fork-Carbon-Fiber-Disc-Brake-Rigid-Bicycle-MTB-Forks/173325916519?hash=item285b079967:m:m4llTfwb634KaoKnQfqxpsQ
But can't figure out what the extra 25mm A-C and smaller rake would do to the handling
