Put this together over the weekend at BLB - went in with the idea of speccing up a pub bike to get me back into the saddle and walked out the next day with something a bit more... involved. Saw this vintage-y Moro frame with Campag dropouts hanging off the ceiling with deliciously crass 90's paint job and decals that had me grinning. A bunch of carbon, Nitto and Campagnolo parts later and we have a leopard-skinned, gold-adorned, fluorescent pink whip that will hopefully put as much of a smile on your face as it does for me!
Happy to put a thread together with some more detailed shots if there's appetite.

Ohh it sure will.
Don't get discouraged, stick around and in some time you'll know why. ;)

I think one of the defining factors that makes a pub bike a pub bike is understatedness - your bike is quite the opposite! Looks fun though, can't go wrong with flouro

Crass question: what did BLB charge for that?

As garish as it is, there IS a design sensibility going there... I get it. That saddle's pimping.

Yeah, I think I went a bit off the rails once I got diving through the proverbial part bins...

I may have had an alcoholic beverage or two from across the road before I went in. And thus the selection criteria for all the individual parts became less about aesthetics and more about what made me laugh...

Crass question: what did BLB charge for that?
I bought all the parts individually - so regular retail markup, I suppose. No labour. £230 for the frameset, £220 for the Pista Record crankset, if that's any kind of indication? Full specs below to get an idea...

Whatever floats your boat.
Most on here will disagree nowadays even though said naysayers had a build like that before. Don't lock that up anywhere though, as it wouldn't last a night. -

I do find it a bit weird that you had a couple of pints and then dropped what I can only imagine was around a grand on a lairy bike because the parts made you laugh.
Have you considered posting videos of yourself smashing Faberge eggs on Instagram?
I do like the frame tho.

had a bit of free time on my hands so put some bikes together.
pesenti got a pair of temporary wheels from a mate. still needs grips and a lockring before i can try it out.
i got this genesis frame a while back thinking it would be my cx/road hybrid before finally settling on the full-bonkers cheaps(l/k)ate (see further down) - i now put most of my parts bin stuff on it so i can sell it to a friend.
and project insanity also took a step forward.. https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/320564/#comment14316703

I did something similar before trying to buy a helmet, I went in and said I want to spend £100, and I want it to be black.
Walked out with a £260 receipt, 2 helmets ordered, both white.

I've been called worse than weird, so yeah, that's fine. ;) Apologies if my earlier description sounded slightly flippant - I was very much in the market to get back into the saddle, but ended up straying a tiny bit from what I thought I was going to buy versus what I ended up with. In the end I ended up with a bike that I'm really stoked with and that –whilst perceived as garish to some, which is absolutely fine– puts the aforementioned smile on my mug.
Also, not really into eggs tbh.

Some good post recently.
Fixing the Salsa with some sexy Canadian CNC
Upgradez for tiny single speed. New bars, Deore brakes from the old Kona. Dropper will go on her hardtail eventually but that bike needs an overhaul.
And what could this be for?

That singlespeed looks pretty nice, what frame is it?
-
• #120099
Trek Marlin. They were dirt cheap, with boat anchor suspension forks, but the frame is nice and light with good sliding dropouts and the wheels seem perfectly serviceable

What material is the replacement hanger?
700c! Yeah nice seat tube cluster :)
@mrboulard it’s made by Iain Dobby. Think I’ve seen one other frameset made by him before, but don’t know any details about him
