I’d recommend Photo Mechanic as the program to sort & rename files before adding to lightroom. It’s fast as fuck for viewing raws, then only adding the photos you *want*to edit into LR. It’ll speed up your workflow no end.

@Well_is_it are you familiar with Matthias Heiderichs work?

Some from Portugal a couple of weeks back..
Just had a look at that set again, really enjoy this on many levels!
There's a nice, subtle light throughout, there's humour, it makes me want to go there and shoot myself..
This would be great in a zine! -

Reflections of shades above windows?

Why not both?
They’re shades that double as solar panels.

Should have said: no that’s a shed and some trees.

Some of you must be fairly seasoned at witnessing the northern lights. Was wondering whether its worth getting a tour or whether its as simple as finding a place to stay?

Stay at @mi7rennie ‘s house.
Otherwise, Scotland is fairly regular but if you want a safe bet, go camping up north in Sweden or Norway. Bring mosquito repellent. Also, Finland gets quite a bit. Basically any of the countries where people’s names end in ‘sson’.

Also, the sun works on 11 year cycles. Afaik, it’s coming down from one so it’s not very active right now. Sometimes it goes mental and you see it in Oxford.

Thanks
Yeah, thats what I heard. So if I flew to Kiruna, which is like northernmost Sweden and just got a place to stay it'd be alright?
What's the deal with all the tours then? Couldn't figure whether you need to search for the big lights in the sky or just get out of lit up areas. -

Time of year is a big one. October is good. All the tours will be at the right time. Obviously it’s nature so hit or miss. Go assuming you just shoot pretty landscapes basically.

It's really hit and miss where I am, only the strongest displays show. 1 hour north of me it's a weekly sight.
5 hours north almost nightly when they dance.
I have a nice beagle that can be seen regardless of atmospheric conditions.
Cheers all. It's been 7-ish years since I shot digital RAW with an SLR so it has been fun to play with Lightroom again. Finally imported the shots from a recent trip to Japan. Not many made the cut but I'm happy with these of the Sanja Matsuri in Tokyo this May.
Whole album is here.
