  • 17.24 tonight. Honesty pens at start sub 16, sub 18 etc meant loads of space compared to last year. Tagged into 2nd row of sub 18 hoping to get dragged along.

1st km 3.21 on watch, (16.45 pace = way too fast). 2 to 3km still at sub 17 pace but stitch and fatigue meant I dropped to 3.33 then 3.38 for last 2km. 53rd of 480ish. 10th V40.

First 1km was fun but at 185bpm for holding sub 17 pace I knew it wouldnt last. Stitch was maybe from either peanut butter rice crackers snack after work, out of date Nuun electrolyte tab as my drink (May 2018) or new waist belt a bit too tight? More likely just went out too hard.

Faster than race 1 last year so onwards & upwards hopefully.

  • Well done, that's really impressive. I still can't run a km under four mins.

  • Great run, well done!
Also, I didn't know there was a Sale Water Parkrun, I thought the locals were in Alexandra and Longford Parks but it seems I've conjured up one of them in my imagination. I'll come along to it before the summer is out.

I decided it's time to start getting myself ready for the Trafford 10k which was put back to September (only run ~60k this year so far) so last night did a hard (for me) 7km and managed it in under 35 minutes. Really chuffed with it, as <50mins is my aim for the race.
If anyone has any advice on intervals for this I'd be interested, otherwise my aim is to keep the running load up where it is, slowly increasing until I'm running over 10k a week.
