How'd Fast Friday go folks?

It was warm! I finished in approximately 17.00.
.@doubleodavey,wearing the scars from a crash, didn't make it to the end. It was a very brave effort.
And in the 10,000 @philpub proved that being cycling fit doesn't necessarily pay off when running 25 tartan laps. Ms Phil won her race. Southern champ. Whoop whoop.

I am dusting off the double pushchair for parkrun this morning, first time the twins have been in it for about 6 months

Well done! Would love to have a crack at a 5k on the track...

I reckon we were brave to turn up. ;-)
I had the biggest DNF demons throughout the race last night, so I really was happy just to see it through to the finish. Was thinking I'd want to at least target sub-35 so on paper 17:31 at halfway was looking OK, but I was always fading; 18:12 second half (slower than marathon pb pace!) for 35:43 on my watch. I've run more than 2 mins quicker than that on the road this year, in tights.
MsPub's happy to have beaten me twice within a week, she ran a track pb of 35:30 for her win. Southern champ, winning herself a medal, a rucksack and a mug!44 miles on the bike this morning. Cycling's much more fun than running in this weather.

Some good running going on up there^
To change the subject entirely... Anyone replaced the battery on their GPS watch? I know what I need but I can't find it anywhere. TomTom don't supply spares (typical), so I've been hunting but can't find anything the right size. https://i.imgur.com/nFnzIOJ.jpg is a pic of what I need, the "332727" should - I think - be the dimensions 3.3 x 27 x 27mm.
Googling away to no avail :(I know I'll void the warranty if I open the unit, but it's finished anyway. It should be straightforward to change. Seems a shame to throw away a fully functioning watch that meets my needs because the battery is on the way out.

Fuck TomTom.

WTF am I doing wrong in my searches? Useful to know they're still available even if it will cost me $1500!

So much this.

5 units. Might be the right dimensions?

Haha yeah. I just typed 332727 battery into Google and that was the top result. If you buy 2000 of them I'll take a couple off your hands on the off chance they fit my Tomtom :)

Thanks everyone. Gives me something to go on. I think I'm going to open up the watch to see if a slightly larger/different dimensioned battery might squeeze in. Will report back once I've found my torx bits, found they inevitably aren't the right size, bought some teeny torx bits...

My commuto-packing is going alright - bag issues all sorted and enjoying the opportunity to spend some time in this lovely weather - but my calves are giving me a bit of gyp. I think this might be related to running up steep hills but not sure.
Is sticking to the flats likely to help? I sort of went straight in with 5-10km runs and 100m of ascent - should I decrease the ascent and build it back up over time?

I've had something similar in the past, which I think was brought on by a 22 mile run with a change of clothes and shoes in a bag.
I ended up injured.
Might be an idea to see if you can limit what you carry if possible? Or rest for a bit
-
• #18496
I'm pretty sure I'm not doing too much distance - just 7ish km less than once a week. I will try to bring my clothes/stuff in the day before instead then and see if that helps at all. And have some time off.

anyone venturing up to Tottenham Marshes for the assembly league tonight?
-
• #18498
I've not run since FastFriday. Had a lovely bike ride on Saturday and been moping around ever since with a cold, getting even more unfit. Tottenham would've been a long way to go just to be beaten by the other half three times in as many weeks. ;-) (Shame really, I'm always up for a new place to race.)
Good luck!

Saw those, but assumed it would just ride up from my hips onto my belly and then flail around loosely like my other phone pouch thing, so ordered a Flipbelt instead. Will be glad to get rid of the backpack for commuting!
I reckon I'll still be going round and round at 7.05. My main aim this year (same as last year) is to avoid coming last.
