WANTED - Advice and/or bike for both touring and weekend outings on road.

I am in the market for a bike to be used for both some light touring and also some road cycling trips. Looking to spend in the region of 650. What would you guys recommend for these type of activities?

Common answer is just buy an Arkose, although you'll have to spend more than 650.

Decathlon Triban 540 is sort of in budget, it has room for 28mm tyres and will take racks and mudguards. That would be a pretty good bet. It's well specc'ed and will have a decent guarantee.

Light touring/audax can be done on pretty much any bike.

Ribble Audax/Winter bike costs a bit more, have done some bike packing and long days on the bike on this thing! Also has attachments for panniers at the back, at least I think that's what they are, never used it for that though. Second hand may be the way to go on this budget, best of luck.
