I’m trying to think up a winter holiday in Sweden, around late November or early January.
The Brief
Want to be in Stockholm for a few days.
But in case there’s no snow we want to travel up north a bit, and see the northern lights.
Questions
Now, snow is quintessential to this and from what I gather it’s a bit of a 50/50 for snow in Stockholm at these times - is this correct?
The lights, will Christmas/Winter lights still be up past 6th of January?
I know Sweden is expensive, so was wondering what would be the best mode of travel to get to the north (was thinking Abisko?); sleeper train, plane?
And snow and northern lights in Abisko, plausible for November and January, right?
I know there are a lot of scandis on the forum so hopefully I can tap into the local wisdom. I’m sure people have inquired on similar topics but couldn’t find much explicitly non bike-related. Any help would be appreciated.
