• Thoughts on the power taps p1s pedals. Got some order.

  • Mine works. There was a big update recently though, so if you’ve not installed new version that might be why.

  • I did delete and re install yesterday in the hope that fixed it.

  • Odd. Not sure then in that case.

Can you log into the desktop version on your phone?

  • Turned my VPN ON and it works. Wtf.
So if you’re in Italy with a British account you can’t use the app... right. Idiots.

  • Strange. Works here in Italy on Android with a British account.

  • Seems it’s to do with the WiFi on the mobile. However that’s very weird as works on laptop. Very confused.

  • I've had mine for about 3 years. They've been replaced 2-3 times after failures. No quibbles but it does take a few weeks each time. Annoyingly the failures all seem to happen right at the start of my biggest events. I stick with them because I'm too tight to buy multiple power meters and these are still the easiest solution for swapping between bikes.

  • Ta very much.

I was after the ease of swapping but not sure if I ought stomp up more and get the quarq

But if replacements have been done with no quibble then may be worth sticking them. Certain only one of these cheapest pedals (single side mind)

  • Go Garmin they’re meant to be pretty good now. Or get a crank that goes in any bike.

My p2m rotor 3D has 2 Allen bolts and it’s off. Change over in 5mins and fits in any frame. Perfect.

  • I think single side is perfectly fine for pretty much everybody. Dual info has been interesting when I've been working through injuries but very rarely outside of 45/55, which is the point where I'm told it becomes significant. Consistency trumps everything.

The P1s can be swapped in 30s and don't need any calibrating, so they're ready to go for every single ride, including rentals if I'm away travelling. For ultra-distance rides it's also handy that they take AAA batteries, which I can buy anywhere if I need to.

  • these are still the easiest solution for swapping between bikes

... when you've got a hippy around to take them off. :P

  • Haha, yes. They're not very swappable if you've just ridden across (most of) America and through some biblical storms without greasing them properly.

  • Thanks guys

I’ll stick with them. The alternative is the stages crank pm.

  • Bit of a long shot, does anyone have a powertap Shimano freehub rubber seal?
The one that goes on the dropout end, specific sized for the powertap pressfit end caps.

Maybe from a notched and worn out freehub or junk hub?

Replacing a campag freehub, realised that the diameter for these is different, and can’t reuse.

  • I have Vector 3 dual sided and I’m pretty even L/R on my TT bike, and was pretty even on my road bike with my previous shoes.

I’ve got new shoes and I’m getting consistent 60/40 readings on my road bike. Stack of the shoes is potentially lower and I feel that I need to raise my saddle a bit, but has anyone found major differences between bikes, or even shoes?

  • Saddle height is what I’ve found to have the biggest effect on (true) L/R balance. When I travel with my bike I commonly see L/R that’s unusual- means I didn’t get the saddle height right when I put the bike together.

  • FSA Powerbox Alloy Power Meter Chain Sets on Planet-X (shudders) for £377

  • Anyone looking to order anything from P2M soon?

I'm going to order a replacement battery cover o-ring and the fucking postage is as much as the part.

  • I am sending my unit back to them for re-calibration after 4 1/2 years.
Could ask them to include one when they return it?

  • What's the likely timeframe on that? Kinda need it before the end of the month.

  • They said a week turnaround once they recieve it.. so given shipping there and back it might cut it a bit fine.

  • I am sending my unit back to them for re-calibration after 4 1/2 years.

What's prompted you to do that out of interest?
