KM's deserve awesome. Go 1x to be trendy.

nice! I was very tempted by this frame - look forward to seeing how this comes together :)

My vote is for drops and bar end shifter! What size wheels/ tyres can it take?
-
• #5
700 x 37 with guards, 42 without, apparently. Will be an all-road, all-weather bike so defo guards. Been very happy with G-ones on my road/ cross bike so probably those. What wheels in the light/ cheap/ wide/ good nexus?

I'll vote for those high rise drops, bar end shifter combination
1x for trendy city cruising, 2x or 3x setup for serious touring. Some panaracer paselas 37mm with tubes on a budget.
Needs japanese tires imho.Anyway, glad the build is already coming along!

Just do it justice

And if you go the bar end shifter route I have some never used Dura Ace ones for sale.

11-speed?

Nice build! Yeah I'm still not sure about 1x vs, say, period correct Ultegra triple. Watching a bunch of stuff on eBay.

thanks man. I think 1x with old cranks looks awesome, if you can get the BCD stuff right.

Frame look amazing in the flesh/ metal. Looking forward to making it my daily driver. V1 will be whatever I can get for cheaps to get it on the road with refinements later. Do you have some or all of the parts I need?
- 1"-1 1/8" stem adapter
- 10-speed indexed bar end shifter
- Narrow wide chainring, 104BCD, 30-36 teeth, anything considered
- 26.8 seatpost
- 10-speed wide cassette, e.g. Sunrace MX3/ MS3
Ta!
- 1"-1 1/8" stem adapter

10-speed indexed bar end shifter
Be careful, you still need to match pull ratios with bar ends! SRAM or Shimano? MTB or road derailleur?
-
• #16
New territory to me, but having done some reading I believe that 9-speed Shimano MTB derailleur (have a non-shadow XTR one) will work with a 10-speed shifter and cassette. Was thinking either Shimano or MicroShift for the lever. Am I right?

Yep, sounds correct to me! I refer to this usually: http://blog.artscyclery.com/science-behind-the-magic/science-behind-the-magic-drivetrain-compatibility/ - all you need is the derailleur pull ratio matching shifter pull ratio, number of gears on the shifter matching number of sprockets on the cassette (obviously!). So 10-speed Shimano with 9-speed MTB derailleur should work great.
Last thing to be aware of is the derailleur maximum sprocket capacity, a really old mech might not clear an 11-42t cassette for example. Usually the specs are conservative though so you can go a few teeth over what Shimano recommend. If you need a really big cassette you can get one of the Wolf Tooth RoadLinks.
Edit: for a wide cassette I bought this 11-42t. Cheapest one I found but not exactly light.

Thanks! It's a long cage M971; I think it'll do a 42t sprocket with some b-screw fettling...
That cassette looks to weigh about the same as the Sunrace MS3. Can save ~50g with the MX3 for if willing to spend another £15 or so...

Finally getting around to doing something with this frame. Could not get these fucking Hutchison tubeless tyres to seat for love nor money so put tubes in to see if that helps the bead to sit against the rims. Got some old XT cranks, derailleur, cassette, cantis, bar end shifter. Quite a parts bin build to see if I like the frame first. Lovely colour, though, and that's the most important part, right?

All being well, this should be arriving from @qpJules in the not-too-distant future. Not built a bike up in ages and quite excited. Currently entertaining two different ideas:
Wheels? Not sure. Any and all suggestions welcome! Definitely a budget build for now. Probably have brakes, bars, stem, rack and a temp front wheel if a cheap wheelset can't be found. Will defo run tubeless, however that is achieved.
