The motorbike hit a pedestrian according to Twitter. I would imagine it's the ped that's in the serious condition...
Air ambulance attended.

Everything about that bike screams detail. Not my cup of tea, but what craftsmanship!

I wouldn't make that assumption having hit a pedestrian myself and spent 3 days in hospital while they walked away.

Any brown pants moments before the shiny wore off?

For the first 30 miles or so, there was 0 feel through the front till an abrupt give. past that, I dropped the pressure a couple of psi front/rear and it's a pleasure!
The bike isn't a monster, so being a bit heavy on the throttle at exit doesn't even phase them. Mid corner correction gives just that, a nice extra tuck without twitch.
Modern rubber is truly amazing. Saying that though, I haven't even scrubbed them in properly yet as I don't go crazy. This is all conservatively spirited. -

It's beautiful.
If we end up moving and getting the house with the garage that i want, something like this is definitely on my weekend warrior list.
No way i could commute on one every day, right?

Saw one in dealership a few weeks back, guess it was a few upgrades, looked like carbon everything (frame and wheels!?), but beautifully made, proper wiring harness etc looked like a race bike that just happened to have plates and an indicator.

• #12067
Yup. I'm more in the used 899 bracket.
-
• #12068
Yessss fam! 848 is on the list for me as well for sure.
Current sorta realistic want stable is 848, early Africa twin, and Speed triple.Where are you at by the way?

That was Bernina pass.

Isn’t that the speciale version? Did it have the tricolour paint?
-
• #12071
Still a very good bracket! More than enough power for anyone really.

I really like the 848 but over here they're going for the same prices as the 1098. There's no way I could convince myself not to buy the full fat.
Speaking of which, the 1198 is one of the most lairy engines I've ever encountered on a motorbike - the midrange is like being smacked in the face with a bat.
Last gen, dry clutch, trellis frame proper Ducatis. I like all of them.
-
• #12073
Yeah, but see, look what you've done now. You just went from the 848 to the 1198 within 1 sentence. Why even bother with the first two then?
I still can't believe how little they weigh in full fat trim.

Was mostly red with like a bit of white (in a triangle shape) on the side panels? Don't remember any green on it, but TBH was blind from all the carbon.

Going for a ride in hottest weather in Scotland for a long time, I guess the secret is to never stop moving.
Coolant system is in very good health and its not a bike that produces a lot of heat but last few weeks have been unbearable, my balls are defo cooked, if not all the way through at least half way done. Cant imagine what its like on a bike that runs hot. Mate used to have a suzuki TL and even in winter around town that thing was horrendous.
I'm with @M_V Don't be that guy. They're a fucking dime a dozen around any Sierra/Alp/Dolomites triple up with around 15 LCD's blazing from the dash like they're conquering Mars or discovering a new fucking continent whilst blocking every car park by taking up full bays and circle jerking each other.
Are they rapid? Fuck yes. I was on the limiter on my bike and got creamed by one. Is it necessary to go anywhere in all connected and all tarmac'd Europe with so much gear you look like you fucked the BMW catalogue?
I rented on for a week here in Spain. I wish I'd gone for a Scrambler. It's a sofa, and it rode like one too.
Get a Triumph Sprint. They're fun and sound amazing and you don't look like another clone. You gonna do Mid life crisis? Do it in style.
Also. This is what a triple sounds like.
