  • I appreciate that it is partaking in a certain amount of sexual objectification, fantasy spinning and general pre-#metoo dinosaur level of chauvinism. A bit.

I think it is partially ameliorated by the nature of the content that I am objectifying and the goals in the creation of that content.

To drop the Godwin's Law level invocation of a comparison with @lynx seems to be a bit of a miacharacterisation. I'll ask Ms Shakira and Ms Perry how they feel about it when I next see them.

  • Has it got anything to do with being "in the football thread" so it's "lads lads lads"?

  • TBH, I only just realised that this was the footy thread and was about to add a PS noting that fact and the implied, if possibly prejudiced, irony of it.

Perhaps "channeling my inner Pisti" might have been apt.

Anyone else in here like tits?

  • That's a whole lot of protesting...

  • I'm sat in a park, waiting for my car to be fixed. Fuck all to do except write wordy posts on here.

I just spent five minutes berating mains socket safety covers on the mum + dad thread.

    Ho hum.

  • Have you tried having a wank?

(the actual real "Lads Lads Lads" response required here)

  • Could you sort out my investment query too, while you're at it?

  • That Lukaku dummy makes me rethink my attitude towards him, great move... Fantastic comeback, great second half...

  • Could you sort out my investment query too, while you're at it?

    Sorry, car fixed now.

  • Although "don't invest in an old MG you bought off BRM" might fit the bill here...

  • I've been wondering about that, because it only works (in the spirit of giving Lukaku credit) if he sees the run of Chadli and lets it run to him because he has a better chance of scoring. Do you still give him as much credit if Chadli gives him a shout?

  • Weirdly specific Shakira lyrics there. Anyway, I thought she was Swiss for some reason.

  • Even if he gets a shout, it shows calmness and confidence not to take the shot

  • that goal is one of my favorites of the tournament so far, timing and execution, it's a shame it had to be against Japan who are a very likeable underdog

  • defiantly esp in the timing of the game last seconds where panic can set in

  • @Rich_G, @Markyboy @>>>>>>
I will reassess my opinion then.
It also means he won't be pilloried for missing that header that would have given them the equalizer.
Think Brazil will have a hard time containing him, if he plays like he can.
Pretty sure Brazil won't put the press on Belgium, and vice versa, even though both teams struggled with it in their matches, belgium especially..

  • Without wanting to sound like a grumpy old man, the sooner someone gets into Brazil the better.

They're there for the taking, I think. I haven't seen much, but what I've seen is a bit "meh". I think Fernandinho is probably doing alright, I rate Marcelo. But I can't see how/if they've fixed their ability to destruct if they're playing someone much much better and more organised. I think Uruguay would complete batter them, if Cavani was fit.

  • So. Roberto, if you're reading this. Felliani on from the start please.

  • Also: if you do want to join in with Colombia, come to Elephant and Castle. IT WILL BE BANGING.

  • is that pub in Stockwell opposite the tube still there used to be Colombian resutrant / pub watched James score that chest volley last WC in there was a whole lot of fun also why I like colombia got befriended by a family who had set up stall on a table they fed me steak I bought some beers and lots of cheering.

  • Not sure Rich, not on any of my routes back home/work....

Also: unsure if Fernandinho has been playing. Sigh.
Whoever. Whatever. I'm not enthused by Brazil. I want someone to give them a physical and mental test, I'd hoped Mexico could. I wish Uruguay could.

  • Fonda Maria? Yep.

  • with Brazil I think they are quite solidish at the back Miranda is a beast and tiago Silvia v steady, the right and left back is the weak spot. So Felaini may be a good shout to upset the middle two.

Brazil always get the attacking flare hype but they are v organised but Mexico showed that if you pressure the wing backs they can be hurt.
