Why not replace the shock with a bit of aluminium with two holes drilled in it? Instant hard tail!

Noooooooooo! Do you want to see a long rambling thread on grades of aluminium?

"What grade Aluminium to do I need? How do I drill this? What drill press do I need? Why can I not use wood grade drill bits in my drill press? What about drift when drilling?"
