Keos gave me more knee pain than SPD.
I’d look at your fit rather than changing pedals. Once you’re clipped in what’s the difference?
Saddle height, set back and cleat position first. After that get speedplays coz free float is lovely on the joints.Edit: contradicted myself a bit there. Keos with the cleats I had, had less angle of float and I couldn’t get them set up right.

Sure! In this instance my left leg is weaker and over compensating for it causing a tight IT and resulting in knee pain (as diagnosed). Got some strengthening exercises I'm not doing enough of but, I actually wanna try giving the leg less opportunity to float about to see if it helps with this. Past experience of riding Keo's was totally problem free (as was SPD-SL). SPD's seem to have caused a few more niggles than road cleats ever did... Am I a mutant?

You’ve gone beyond my already non existent knowledge of knee pain and float. Can’t help you then :)

Look into the Speedplay Frogs.
Completely solved my knee issues. They have something like 18 degrees of non centering free float i.e they have no spring loaded tension pulling your knee rotation into a set plane like most other cleats do.

All the best,
Bobby
I have a dodgy knee and I've convinced myself that leaving the world of SPD and going back to road cleats will go part of the way to helping reduce the pain I've been getting.
Before going ahead and splashing ~£30 on brand new cheap pedals, thought Id ask if anyone has any used Look Keo's knocking around? Waste not want not. Have two pairs of shoes with cleats but not the pedals...
Ta!
