Custom Earlyrider Allyeyrunner 12" for my daughter..

I just had a daughter. I really good reason for another project:) (this is going to be a bit slow, shes only 5 days old) I bought a secondhand earlyrider alleyrunner 12. some rust on bolts, some minor wear.

The big plan:

• Make the bike is light as possible (already have carbon handlebar and seatpost)
  
• Maybe a custom moulded saddle/seatpost
  
• New lighter tires (if found on the big www)
  
• alibaba carbon wheels
  
• replace all rusty bolts with titanium
  
• foam grips
  
• custom paint
  
• maybe a new headset (think i have a spare king heasdet in the basement)
  
• etc, etc

Congrats! You may or may not realise this project is going off on a tangent but we must all cope with childbirth in our own ways ;)

FWIW, the specialized balance bikes have a little shelf thing where the little'uns can put there feet which helps when they go over rough stuff.
That's really cool for learning to do jumps, up / down curbs etc.

We got our daughter a Giant Pre, which is more or less the same as the one you got, but I think the specialized ones are probably better (albeit much heavier - made of steel, not aluminum).

V cool, I thought about doing this to lankybabies first bike and never did. Bear in mind that balance bike grips get trashed pretty easy- lots of lying bike down. If you mould a carbon seat build in anice handle for carrying

I have a green Cannondale Trail balance bike on order for the daugther which will be stripped like my caad 10. Was also thinking of upgradig some bits so will be keeping an eye on this project for stealing ideas. :)

Started the saddle moulding today. «Learning by doing». I made a plaster mould, copying a childrens saddle. I have absolutely no idea what’s the result is going to be like. Did the carbon lay-up this evening. Wet lay-up with a brush. No vacuum or fancy ovens. After it’s cured, the plan is to trim the edges, bonding on a old carbon seatpost and hive it a layer of clearcoat. Then a gentle padding on top. Or maybe dipers is enough padding?

Te carrying idea is smart!

Saddle shaping done. 59grams on the scale. Untrimmed edges. Needs some reinforcements inside and seatpost moulded on to the saddle.
