  • So in a few weeks I hope to have finalised my own personal Brexit and will live overseas for the foreseeable future. My understanding is that UK driving licences must show the correct address. If I had moved internally in the UK I guess I would have just told the DVLA and then wait for the updated card to turn up at my new address?

    But what happens when I move abroad? For reference, the country I am moving to accepts my UK license as such, no need to retake the test. And in any case it does no require one's address on the card, so if I was to just keep using my current card I would break the law in Blighty only, but not my new domicile. Has anyone else here been trough this?

  • When I moved here I used my Aussie lic. until someone said that was only valid for 5 years and I should hand it in and I'd get a British one. Check that there's no time limits for the use of the your forrun mucky license. It might be easier to do the swap earlier.
