  • His ban should get extended since in court he blamed it was a used syringe but in that article admits to doping because he is a cheat.

  • Yeah, so he's a cheat and a liar.

    Life ban. Fuck off.

  • Now based 50% in Mallorca and running guided tours for some of the classics - San Seb, MSR etc. Seems to be doing ok post ban, lifetime or not

  • I look forward to posting a slower time than him on every climb yet still letting him know I'm faster because I didn't throw a bunch of 'roids in my arm.

  • Aso trying to prevent Froome signing on for the Tour, interesting development.

Fuck me this is a mess.

  • The UCI have just confirmed that Froome is cleared of any wrongdoing and keeps his Vuelta and Giro wins and is free to ride the Tour.

  • Right, I assume that will be the end of it then. No more discussion needed.

  • Almost certainly not, but the bare facts are that he’s not guilty of a doping infringement.

The tinfoil hat brigade can bang on and on about how Sky are using some mysterious doping regime, but they have minimal evidence to back their accusations up.

  • That’s good news to be sorted ahead of the tour. Can we expect anymore press releases and detail?
It’s surely in both parties interests for greater transparency here?

  • Hopefully the UCI will publish their reasoned decision when it’s available.

  • Transparency is good, but remember if it was not leaked, we would know nothing about it at all.

Lucky he didn’t voluntarily take himself out of the Giro!

  • Looking at the timelines with my tinfoil hat on, I can't tell which way it's gone. Did the ASO know Froome was about to be pardoned and so tried to block his entry, or did the UCI see the ASO trying to block Froome and so cleared his case? Or taking off the tinfoil hat maybe the timing was a coincidence. Either way it does smack of last minute wrangling whatever the case.

  • Why would ASO attempt to prevent someone who they knew was going to be cleared of any wrongdoing from starting their event?

  • But it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if the UCI took some pleasure out of putting ASO back in their box.

  • I'd suggest it should be open knowledge in the first place.
Wonder how this might affect TUE's and controlled substances in the future.

I'm surprised by the outcome but it's a pleasant surprise.

  • where will be the best place to read comments on this. Everyone is gong to have a meltdown its going to be brilliant!

  • Tony Martin's twitter??

  • Froome should send a tweet to Hinault so we can watch him loose his shit.

  • This is what I was thinking. It seems to add an additional layer of murk to an already murky situation. Would have been so much better if this had come out a week ago before the Tour stuff kicked off. But, yeah, no evidence, probably not guilty. But that probably is heavily weighted with cycling history and there's not much Froome can do about that.

  • Cyclingnews and responses to cyclingweekly posts on facebook.

  • Hmm, so are WADA going to adjust their salbutamol limits based on wonderboy's physiology?

  • Controversy aka promotion

  • I would not be surprised to see changes to how Salbutamol levels are verified in the future. Clearly there are some flaws in the urine test used presently.
