Have you left Middle-earth yet?
Pedantry corner alert--as part of the mythology he was creating for Britain, Tolkien actually conceived of a mythological Britain as Tol Eressëa, the Lonely Isle. Middle-earth stood for the rest of Europe/Asia/Africa. The early conception was later dropped (why is rather complicated), but Britain was never seen as part of Middle-earth. (There was never a role in that attempted mythology for Ireland, north or south.)
