Actually, it's not really quiche gears as it's 1 x 8.
Quiche gears was some yacf-ers phrase coined for doubles that have a big ring of 42T or smaller. None of this "REAL MEN MUST HAVE A 50T BIG RING" nonsense.
Mostly for long (i.e. Audax length) rides where you'd end up either flitting between big and small rings too often or using all of the gears with awful chainlines.
Yep, that's the one. They moved on to disc brakes in recent years and not interested in that modern nonsense for a commuter hack.
Pinnacle Neon 1 looks similar too and I could transfer over existing rack/dynohub/etc. Quiche gears would be perfect (current commuter is an ancient Gary Fisher Nirvana with a triple that only ever sees the middle chainring being used). The years of needing something super sturdy for Weeride / Hamax duty have gone.
Since the current commuter is on its way out (interesting creaking noises from it recently) I'll be on the lookout for a medium Spesh Source 2016 or Pinnacle Neon 1 in any sales.
