On reflection, I confess I did also derive some additional humour: (1) from the belief that this re-interpretation of the image would conflict with the self-image the subjects desired to project, which is indeed based on stereotyping (2) from the belief that the subjects might suffer some distress if made aware of the re-interpretation (3) an entirely unfounded association of these particular Millwall supporters with the specific ones I have shared trains with before and after matches.
