this isn't gong to be single speed as i don't have a single speed hub and gears are useful.
i found a 7 speed flat bar grip shift that works at the bottom of a parts box and a 7 speed shimano cassette - i've got some pretty knackered fulcrum 5s with a shimano 9/10 speed free hub on - with 3 1mm washers behind the cassette it fits on the freehub with no play...a spare 105 rear mech will get used too - i can't see a problem with this - as long as the shifter is indexed to match the cassette the derailleur will do what it's told by the shifter and shift fine right??
