  • If one had a Brompton (2x hub) and one wanted to have a higher gear ratio is it just as simple as swapping out the chainring for a bigger one (and chain I guess)

    *asking for a friend

I've recommended he gets some faster rolling tyres (maybe the Kojaks), but is it really worth it on a Brompton?

  • New chain too. Kojaks are nice but summer only I think, and prepare to change a tube.

  • whats he go now? 2 links added per 4 teeth, so adding two teeth works, but then chain is too long.

Kojaks are amazing, just add some tubeless sealant.

  • What chainring does he have? I did it the other way, found the stock gearing to high for me, so swapped out the chainring for a smaller one and shortened the chain. It was pretty straight forward, especially by Brompton standards.
