Always liked the idea of cage mounts on the top tube, for a fuel pod bag thing or bottle, so might give that a go. Wouldn't play nice with a top-tube shifter, but meh. That guy says inside the triangle is the only bit that's difficult to drill so maybe I'll try it after all
Edit: under DT obviously as well

Thought I’d wandered in to Functional for a second!
I’m in LA at the moment and there are so many cool rusty beach cruisers and 90s mountain bikes along the strand. Definite lifestyle envy.

A fancy rear brake bridge mod maybe? :)

If it needs to be straight/precise it'll be too difficult for me! Disc tabs are okay because you just jam the lever on and it self-aligns. Brake bridge seems like an important area to do properly though... I'll think about though
Apologies all for the thread hijack as well, I just wanted a few more eyes on the problem

Velo Orange Montmarte bars, they are pretty great but I think I will lose the ourys I had lying around in favor of bar tape so I can use the flats.

Aha, I'd forgotten all about those VO's, I'll be taking a closer look. Thanks for the info.

Grim. Any idea what that frame is? 20” and looks like it hinges underneath, so that cable arrangement might be OEM

I remember a guy in my class at high school built something like that, except that he put the engine in the triangle and replaced the rear wheel with tracks from an old snowblower. It worked and he still lives today. Wish I had some pictures of that crazy creature.

I always thought rivnuts would be a bad idea on steel. Seems weaker than brazing. Rivnuts on carbon where you can't braze/weld. Pretty sure you can do bottle cage bosses on a shitty map gas setup from B&Q too.

I've got some cheapo black rattlecans in my cupboard, just waiting for a quiet dry day where I'm at home all day so I can get a few coats done. If I weld disc tabs on I'll end up getting a disc fork though so probably won't invest too much effort into it.

I met a guy with a similar machine. He said the only reason he had it was because he'd lost his driving licence for drink driving.

He was quite pissed in the middle of the day so it checks out.

Koga outside my office. Fluted seatpost, Brooks, chrome fork, it's a bit nice for a ratty lockup bike IMO? I like it though

Crusty by name, crusty by nature. Found on Reddit.

Because at the time I had to use a friction shifter and the clamp was too narrow for the downtube. I kind of like it like this though.
