I'm not very familiar with derailleur geared bikes

there are times when the speed and total accuracy of EPS comes into it's own. A real life test of this is Carbone hill , one of the ' 3 ugly sisters' around Newgate Street Herts , a fast descent into a dip followed by a sharp incline , this is where you need to make several quick a decisive gear changes to keep the momentum going , this can be tricky with mechanical gears , especially if you've already done 4 hours and your a bit fucked! (trust me on this) this is when EPS really proves it's worth

Riding fixed will help weaving through traffic as you can modulate your speed much easier also.
Straps, clips, or cages are a must for about any bike made for pavement man. Once you get used to them you will make sure even your road bike has some form of foot retention.
Selfshame:
I don't really do modern Shimano

If I'm riding with a car key, my Audi RS6 Avant key goes on a lanyard around my neck.

where's this from? we might as well close this thread as nothing's gunna top that
-
• #1966
The problem: All the frames I can find which get close either don't have the mounts or are set for discs and or cassette, or even worse have vertical rear drop outs

I have a fair amount of seatpost showing so reckon I should be ok

Fair. Same chat:
Yeah I was on the front of an averagely paced group ride on Saturday pulling 50-55kph for a good few kms.

I've been meaning to turn my polo bike into something off-roady since I got to Oz, reading that thread makes me wanna kill myself and throw that bike into the sea...

Felt like a prat getting involved but I just can't stop myself arguing with people who say things like "get a new hobby if you need an xyz cassette". I worry that some impressionable casual rider will stumble upon such comments and be put off cycling forever. Gatekeeping bad okay
Edit: fuck it, I'll just stick to looking at pictures of bikes from now on
