Dang. Heal up.
Not the same bone as the Boris/Ken/Sadiq bike incident was it?

Feel like someone’s going to get mangled on Farringdon Street where they are putting the new cycle highway in. Real badly organised roadworks, super tight.

Air ambulance north side of Blackfriars Bridge. Hope it turns out ok, but a grim site on what was a pleasant commute.

Nearly a full house in cunt on the road bingo
Van bibbing and sitting on my rear wheel to get 6 feet further forward into the traffic jam...check
Policeman hanging out the window shouting get out of the way when i am a foot from the curb and both lanes are clear for him to pass
Punishment pass by a motorbike as i am filtering down the outside of non moving traffic, only for me to have to go around him 10 metres down the road
Then in the bike lane over southwark bridge I slowed down as i am coming down the hill to the (red) traffic lights and some wobbly tit on a brompton squeezes through the tiniest gap to get to the red lights first. Plus he didnt hear me calling him out because he had noise cancelling headphones on!
tldr.....

Fuck that. I've seen police doing that before, and they are supposed to be professionally trained drivers.

Have seatbelts become uncool or did I just happen to noitce 7 people not wearing this morning becuase I started looking at 3...
-
• #23314
In that traffic policing programme the Beeb had a while back, every fatality in a car they showed involved a lack of seatbelts IIRC. Clearly it's not as uncommon as it should be, but then look at the general state of driving you see every day...

I noticed several Mercedes and BMW saloons in Epping the other day all had the drivers belt buckled without the driver being in the car, and tbh it just reinforcers my own opinions about the owners intelligence.
White saloons, with tinted windows are to be avoided on the roads and anyone who knowingly doesn't wear a belt has only themselves to blame.

Skitched the open window of an ice cream van, received free ice cream on the move
Solid commute

To the chap reading his phone while cycling at full speed down east/west towards embankment where it narrows and a bus load of london-super-fans with Nikons had ejected into an excited huddle... you managed to eclipse the bus indicating left but turning right across a lane of traffic at camberwell for most nodder moment of my commute home this evening.
Shame you didn't look up when I shouted. Hope everyone survived the carnage I hope didn't happen.

This morning I took one of my fixed bikes for the first time in forever. I gave it a once over last night but the chain was getting slowly slacker and slacker. I thought to myself "I need to look at that" just before a simple speed bump shipped the chain from both the chainring and cog. Fuck knows how that didn't up locking up the drive train and throwing me to the asphalt into a crumpled heap of anger and regret. I simply coasted to stop. I should fucking know better. Teh Fixie Godz are getting a goat sacrifice from me on my lunch break.
tl:dr; listen some of the those voices in your head when your bike feels fucked

"What is all that noise?" I thought at the top of Sunray Avenue this morning.
"oh it's a pair of jays arguing with a magpie"
"oh that's going on a long time, what are they....oh"
I went over.
Dying jay fledgling.
Magpie looks like it attacked the nest, got the chick.NOT THE BEST START TO THE DAY.
I wobbled between staying there or taking it to a vet.
I did neither and cycled off in a funk. -

taking it to a vet.
Yeah don't do this for birds, there's nothing they can do.
-
• #23322
Yeah. That's not true.
-
• #23323
Cricket bat?
-
• #23324
Yeah, I know. That's why I left it.
I thought "looking at that fledgling, it's stressed, it's breathing rapidly, it's not moving, it's on its side, its wing looks fucked, if I pick it up I'll stress it further and / or get mobbed by its parents. There is nothing I can do here. And there's nothing I should do"Which is why I felt particularly bleak.
Not sure I'd want to eat anything at Disneyland, not with the rodent problem they have. Have you seen the size of some of them mice?
