The problem is that your l-r balance is almost certainly not constant or consistent. It typically varies with fatigue and also with cadence and power. So if you care about accuracy*, and you should if you are using a PM, then single sided makes little sense.
- Just a couple of percent out can make you think you are 10w up/down on your normal power, given that the gauges are typically only around +- 2% themselves that's not a good place to be.

I 'like' my Stages, paid £210 for it new and it works on all 4 bikes which makes up for the compromise of being L only. Do I prefer it to the Powertap fixed hub, no!
Unless you are getting a silly bargain price, spend a bit more another p2m, like the new NGeco. Will be getting one next.

I'm in the vast majority of users with averagely balanced L-R
You're in the vast majority of users who don't actually need a power meter too

And that is the most sensible answer of all! I already have two P2M units so indeed a third is.....indulgent. Thanks all for views

My other pedals are Speedplay or SPD so that’s not relevant - being able to pick up commodity cleats like Keo rather than specific Vector cleats is very useful though.

Where did you get the Stages for £210? Have been using TrainerRoad and the Direto smart trainer, which now makes me road miles look like a bit of an unknown quantity, so want to have a clearer picture of my training. Am currently looking at this: https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Stages-Cycling-Power-Meter-G2-Ultegra-6800_87647.htm?sku=298427&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google_shopping&mkwid=sSFRvU8TP_dc|pcrid|267242930360|product|298427|&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIq6LJ2_aJ2wIVl_hRCh0_ngyfEAkYAiABEgIeXPD_BwE#

It was like 2 years ago, black friday from Sigma Sport, also GXP 170mm to add to it being a bit more niche.
Get yourself over to the Sigma sport site, use code GIRO40 and..

When I used powermatch on TrainerRoad it was bloody awful. I'd spent 15 seconds at too high a power, then TR would calculate for the next 15 secs and then I'd be too low. Repeat to fade. I left TR because of this around 3 years ago. Signed up for a free month earlier this year to find it still the same.
Zwifts ERG mode using a power meter as the source works perfectly. God knows why TR don't try a similar trick.

Damn, was that with a Kickr? I'm going to give it a go and see how it goes.

No, a Tacx Vortex.

They've done several updates in the last two weeks to sort out the split on powermatch. Seems to be working a lot better.

Anyone got P2M Type-S battery cover o-ring spares? Mine has gone walkies sine last battery swap...
Or know what size it is for buying generic replacement.
http://www.power2max.ca/product/accessories/o-rings-and-screws-type-s/
"@Jeff and all interested, here are the specs for the small parts of the Type S:
Battery cover screws: M2x5 flat head, ISO7045
o-ring: 25x1
Both the o-ring and the plugs are not generally available, the plugs are specific. " -

P2M were amazing when I lost my battery cover. One was sent out free of charge with teutonic efficiency. I'd get in touch with them.

I'm flying to the US on Wed. I'm pretty sure they're not that efficient and even if they are I'm sure I don't want to pay £20 worth of shipping for an o-ring. If I can't find anything local I'll just smear it with silicone grease or something.

• #8818
I bet you will.

It wouldn't be the first time I've had a crank
lubed with silicone grease
to prevent foreign object penetration. -

Took the plunge, many thanks

My gf has a persistent (9month) running injury that also carries over to pain while cycling. She recently switched to a new physio who wants to check her cycling l/r balance.
I have vectors that we could use but they are a bit old and take 3-4 rides to settle in, plus she uses a different pedal/cleat system so that is a little bit of a faff. Looking at other solutions, do gym/spinning/watt bikes etc offer measured l/r power? What is the easiest most convenient way to measure l/r power?
-
• #8822
Pretty sure WattBikes have l/r split.
-
• #8823
Yes, wattbikes have left/right
-
• #8824
Excellent, thanks. I have a club mate in the village with a watt bike we might be able to borrow and will look into whether any local gyms have one too.

Any One else TP iPhone app not really working? Mine won’t load.
No one has 50/50 pedaling.
If you don't care about accuracy, then go ahead. Or precision with your other units.
