lovely commute this morning on my equilibrium after fitting a new cassette and chain.
i really need to get the stuck seatpost out now though. just nervous of fucking the frame up in the process :( -

i love a good stuck seatpost (other people's) - steel frame alluminium post?
what removal methods have you tried? -
• #455
Probably got a spare 30mm if you need one
-
• #456
yep.
brute force with an old seat, 10 ft scaf pole clamped onto top of post, made a puller thing to try and wind it out...
it's properly stuck - needs cutting out. (or caustic soda, but i don't want to melt the paint off) -

spot on @PhilDAS, just took a caliper to the seat tube and is 30mm.
@umop3pisdn happy to trade for the Thomson 31.8 if you need/want -

I have no need for a Thomson unfortunately, it's just an unbranded one but you can have it for free if you need one.

This place/person has been mentioned to me before. No idea if itβs any good/worth the price but Iβm looking for somewhere to remove a ti post Iβd rather keep than destroy if possible.

Anyone else used this service?

cheers, I have considered this, but Β£70 plus cost of courier > cost of seatpost...

Hi,
The brake performance was dramatically improved when routed externally compared to internally. It was worth it for me, despite the aesthetics. Hope that helps. -

Makes sense, will make sure to leave enough cable to try both options. Thanks, truly useful trick!

Anyone on here owns a 2018 Fugio?
It looks pretty much like what I am after. -

So this happened... does someone know where I can source spares? I have already emailed Genesis and asked the LBS to contact the brand without much luck ... π

Ceeway probably sell something very similar, your lbs probably has something that'll fit and do the job but won't look the same. They probably have 2 of them though so you could change the other side to match.
Getting the wee broken bit out will be the harder job.

Keep pedalling in Manchester got me some pretty sharpish. Any Genesis dealer can get em for you.

The size of the barrel adjuster is M5, you should be able to get some steel ones from a good LBS. Original ones are made of brass or some other soft material, it's probably not stuck there too bad so try pushing a screw driver (I'd use phillips head, but grab the one that's nearest) into the broken one (with some pressure) and screw it out.
I wouldn't bother replacing them with original ones because this may well happen again with them.

Iβd be looking for a torx that was just a smidge too big to fit down inside and then persuading it in with a hammer and using that turn it out?
Did it break because itβs seized or because it took a knock?

I've done this a few times with a phillips screwdriver, the adjusters I've had to deal with haven't been too tight, bit of pressure pressing down the screw driver and a gentle turn have been enough. A torx head hammered into the broken adjuster might have even more grip (but head will most likely be damaged). If there's a risk of adjuster being stuck, I'd start with soaking it in WD-40.
π What size is the seat collar on a Genesis Equilibrium with a 27.2 seatpost? Ordered a lovely Thomson 31.8 following some dataset I found online just to discover it is too big!π
