  • Haha well it is central London at rush hour, not the lanes. If you want exact figures, strava tells me 9.2km at 25.8kmh average which I think is fairly good for rush hour central commuting.

  • Haha yeah only joshing, it was an obvious set up for some nobber to jump in and do a Nelson from the Simpsons, HAHA!...Grandad, sorry, I am that nobber :)

  • You. I like you. Give yourself a catchier name than User75204

  • Was surprised at the junction of Judd St and Tavistock Place this morning when the black cab I'd stopped ahead of suddenly drove around me and through the junction while the light was red. I was left there trying to work out whether I should be moving or not.

Caught up with it where Guilford St meets Russell Sq. Driver was seemingly immersed in a (hands free) phone call, no reaction at all when I gave her a 'WTF?' look. Bit worried to see that the camera's LED wasn't flashing, but luckily the battery had lasted just long enough to record it.

    London's best trained drivers, apparently.

  • Ha well you've heard of the inverse shim, I'm an inverse Patrick McGoohan, I am not a free man, I am a number..or something.

  • Jeez (RIP in peas) aicmfp.

  • Getting tired of the traffic/car shaped road blocks when you come onto the intersection at Kennington Road/Westminster Bridge Road northbound (Lambeth North tube station junction). This is happening most mornings and is caused by morons pulling into a junction they cannot exit due to the traffic ahead of them. Just bad driving. Makes it very dangerous for the bikes and cars who want to cross the junction and go in direction of Waterloo.

    Tedious moan/10.

  • excellent reference

  • Lambeth North tube station junction

This is being rebuilt soon, to make it more bike and ped friendly (which wouldn't be hard).

  • Crank almost fell off, had headwind. Not my finest commute.

  • Stupid white van man blocked a lane, I helped a cyclist by blocking the green box so that he could go around it with me.

  • Cut up by a Boris bike wanker who turned across me to go left without signalling. The cunt.

  • Commute to the year so far. Light traffic, no wind, nice and warm, loads of people out on their bikes. Good vibes.

  • It was excellent. Must have been 30-40 bikes waiting to cross from rye lane to peckham 'space' this morning, people of all ages and whatnot. And that was only one transition of the lights. Seeing the people in cars' bemusement that so many people were out on bikes was great, and I hope it illustrates to them that actually loads of people use it as a form of transport. Also due to the number of bikes not even the most ardent white van bullys could intimidate the less confident cyclists into the curbs on portland st!

  • ^^^^ so much all of this.
Hopefully, a small percentage of people that only tend to ride on nice days will convert to year round commuters after realising it is THE BEST way to arrive at work!
In years to come, it would be great to see the numbers we are seeing on the streets today on a 'normal' not so sunny day on the streets of London.

  • So Spain out this morning. Forgot bottle, also someone turned on the treacle

  • Have they considered cycle training? ;)

I am glad Belfast cycle lanes (where I am at least) are not super busy, once you meet enough people there is always "one".

  • Nope. Can confirm not as hot here in the deepest south.

  • Then what are you doing indoors? Get out on your bike!

  • So it is! Wasn't aware of this. Looks like an improvement.

  • Yesterday I picked up a Feast from self-named Mrs Softee in Victoria Park, and this morning I started my commute with a coffee in one hand. I'm enjoying this more relaxed, one handed eating and drinking while cycling style I've adopted. Obviously it's best to see how far I can push it, donuts, giant pretzels, maybe a kebab wrap, even pizza, or a giant turkey leg (a la Disneyland)? Perhaps I could cable tie a tray to my handlebar bag.

  • Perhaps a drip tray, if you do go for some of the greasier items you suggested.

  • Mmm, had never heard of this before, need to go to Disneyland...

  • It's OK, I've got mudguards to keep greasy drips and splashes off the tyres.

  • Got left hooked on thursday, the classic turning left while still not fully overtaken and SMIDSY...

Bike is fine, I used my body to shield it... right wrist is a bit sore still
