Even better. It's great in the wet. Keeps you warm and dries very quickly but due to the fact there's no membrane, it doesn't get sweaty. Problem with Gabba/Shadow is they can only really be used in 'changeable' weather. The gilet can be used when it's Baltic outside, as well as changeable. But that's just my opinion.
Yes, PTTJ is way way way too warm for anything about 8 degrees, for me anyway. Have you considered a wind jacket? Very nice for those chilly days when the temp is a bit middling. Have you considered an insulated gilet? Probably the most versatile piece of cycling kit ever made IMO. Insulated gilet with a wool jersey and merino arm warmers is delightful.
