I would do top at the elbow
-
• #11403
Top at elbow, bottom at wrist. I guess it doesn’t matter but I doubt anyone would want there work on you upside down

Gotta look right when your arm is relaxed by your side (so, bottom at wrist always)

I've been contemplating getting the two faces from this Tom Wesselman painting above my knees.
This is all very hypothetical, but one of the questions is whether they should be right side up when I'm standing and someone is looking at them, or when I look at my own legs. My thinking is that I'm getting the tattoo for myself, so that they should be right side up when I look at them, but it would look weird for the rest of the world.

I've broken this rule with one filler because of the shape of the free space.

I have one of my earliest on my ankle, that looks backwards (when I face forward, Snoopy and Woodstock are facing whoever is behind me). Nobody told me until after that there was some kinda ‘rule’ that tattoos should face forward. So I must literally live with that.
It’s no big deal but now almost everything else is facing the other direction, bar one or two. It’ll balance out in time.

As long as the tattooist is a good one, just tell them the idea, where you want it, then leave the rest to them. They honestly 100% know best and you’ll look way better for it.

Lovely handpoke things from this lady's Instagram and appears a keen cyclist to boot (I'm sure people here know her?) Definitely on the radar for something in future.

or just do what you want and feel comfortable with on your own body, rather than the tattooist telling you what they think looks best, even if they are more experienced?
-

That too. It was more to people asking advice on here, who may not realise that the tattooist can be extremely helpful with placement and what works as a tattoo vs on paper, and so on.

I got a new one yesterday from https://www.instagram.com/mishkatattoo/
It was the most chilled tattoo experience I've ever had and the work is incredible! The artist is lovely, would recommend.

Badder Israel is cool, used to be around Bushwick.

She liked this

But honestly I'm not sure and don't want to get too involved. I doubt any colour or anything too achingly hipster.
@pdlouche - possibly a bit gangsta I reckon.

So I got a quote from that place...$2500
Which was for a 5 inch x 5 inch design.
It was a little out of my price range. -

Called by Borneo Headhunters in Kuching a couple of weeks ago, to catch up with Ernesto who did my wrist 15 years ago - he was impressed with what Tom @ Demon Frameworks had done with the design (my profile pic) to incorporate it into the lugs of my Demon. Was great to share this with him!
He worked another design for me, upper left back, to complement what Matt Black had done on the other side. 3hrs of hand poke ...

smith street is the only correct answer
If a tattoo has an obvious top and bottom, and it's going on one's inner forearm, does the top point to the wrist ( so it's the right way up when one looks at it ) or tother way? Does it even matter?
