Ahh, could be that 2.4" 650b would fit an AWOL. I tried 29er 2.3" that wouldn't fit.
-
• #4428
I think that sound feasible, someone fit 26" wheels on it which look oddly proportional.
-
• #4429
Found it, Ultra Romantic (Benedict) have 650b on his AWOL, can't see what sizes the tyres is thought;
-
• #4430
Those go up to 2.3".
-
• #4431
Also, with the AWOL, it can go up to 2.35 in 29ers as long they're slick tyres, not knobby.
G-One Speed maybe?

up to 2.35 in 29ers
Would not ride :)
-
• #4433
Hah, then I guess 2.2 is perfectly fine, it is a touring bike after all, not an expedition bike like this Ridgeback;

Arkose guys - would I (6'3") fit on a large? The geometry chart says the range is 5'9" - 6'0", but the top tube is 56cm, which is what I have on my road bike and ht is very close too.
Also I dont suppose anyone is near Romsey/Southampton/Havant or general central south coast area? :)

I'm 6'2" and had an XL. Less than that would be too much an aggressive position for that kind of bike
-
• #4436
look at the stack and reach and compare that to what your currently riding
-
• #4437
But then I’m around 6”1 or 2 and ride a medium.
You won’t know until you try it. -
• #4438
XL as the Pinnacle come with shorter stem than a road bike.
Like everyone said, go to Evans and give it a test ride.

I think 2.4" is probably a bad idea, I was just being lazy and would have 2.4" tyres mounted tubeless on the decent 29er wheelset anyway, and it would have been nice If I could get them in.
I should probably use the High Latitude whenever 2.4" tyres are needed and put something narrower such as G-One 38mm on the cheap 29er wheelset for the Sequoia, possibly with mudguards.
Maybe I should #JustGetAnArkose Fork.
Or maybe this none of this will happen and I won't buy a bike that I don't really need.

Can heartily recommend Gritfest - should be running again next year. Hot welsh gravel climbs, happy just to make it round really.
Scenery was alright

What singlespeed setups are people running in terms of Disc and drops?
-
• #4442
Yeah forgot about ht angles ha you're definitely right. Pity though, theres a large on ebay in good condition for £300 atm no bids yet.
Thanks to the others too

As in brake systems for dropbars? TRP Hylix are the one. Spyres if you want to keep it mechanical.
-
• #4445
^ that's lovely
-
• #4446
i think they went a bit mad with the clearance and unfortunately shimano still doesn't make gearing appropriate for this sort of bike. like really 32-34 is enough for a bike with 27.5 x 2.4" tires?
but yes it is lovely and i want one. winter riding with 47-48mm tires and fenders?! the strael putty is prettier though.

Shimano make an 11-34 cassette and you can get an ultegra Mech to work with their MTB cassettes anyway
-
• #4448
Use an xtr mech?
Pretty sure that’s what a lot of UP owners are doing.
-
• #4449
that is what i have but you need the cable pull adapter.
my point was not that there aren't work arounds, but that this ought to be a standard thing shimano does.
11-34 ain't even close to enough unless you have something like 46/30 up front imo. that is if you actually take this thing on hilly singletrack/off-road and the like.

I'm sorry I forget to clarify, that is with 650b wheels.
Ultra Romantic have one with 650b wheels and silly part list;
