Do you have a drill? If you could make just a small indentation by drilling then like @TheShipwright suggested you could tap it with a punch to get it off. Do Pitlock have any suggestions? They must've encountered this issue before... Good luck!

if you get access to a grinder you could grind two flats on it to make something to get a spanner on, much easier than cutting a slot
