Contact the seller? If you want to keep it anyway, negotiate some money back. If not, full refund.

Thanks for the advice on postage.
I contacted him and said I’d be happy to split it half and half. And he’s basically just ignored me. I’ve got the item now as I collected it off his daughter last week.
@howard what you say about Ebay postage might be true (as in they just get the item to you) but what I understand is if you are charging postage and accepting payment through PayPal you were required to post the item to the address listed on the buyers PayPal account (and retain proof of postage). But he got it couriered to his daughter for me to pick up. So as far as PayPal is concerned he hasn’t posted it to me and doesn’t have the required proof of delivery if I was to make a claim against him. Wouldn’t ever take it that way but I don’t know why he’s clinging to this postage charge so much... and won’t just meet me in the middle. It’s frustrating 🤷♂️

I'm confused, did he drop it off with his daughter himself or have it delivered to his daughter by courier?
-
• #1180
I don’t know. Wouldn’t make sense to courier it to her as he could have just couriered it to me!
-
• #1181
I messaged Ebay to check what their policy is and he isn’t obliged to refund me, but agreed that a partial refund would be the right thing to do. Anyway i’ll try one more time to split the postage and just leave it if he ignores me again

He’ll respond quickly enough when you leave him negative feedback calling him out for being a tightwad with poor communication.
-
• #1183
Yeah. Dickwad that sent me AX deltas with fucked old replacement bolts refused to repond, didn't send me a return label when ebay told him to, then when I got the refund (and the brakes) started demanding i pay to ship them back (20 euros) which I said I'd only do if he paid. Still refused, but then asked me to change the negative feedback as "it was resolved". Aye but no by you ya fucking useless sprooter!

This is the right answer unfortunately. I presume you agreed to collect from the Daughter and the seller felt the deal to be closed, then later you realised that the arrangement with the postage fee wasn't quite what you expected? Lesson learned, get the terms sorted up front before agreeing anything. Nerging the seller in this case is petty unless the item is not as described and they won't sort it out.

So the original arrangement was he post to me, as I couldn’t collect off him. Straight after I paid the price plus post for delivery he said he travels to London / soho so could actually bring it in and drop it to me. Which he didn’t in the end. As I had to go and collect off a third party.
Just irks me a bit.. I know it’s fairly petty. Just feels off as well because if it was me I wouldn’t consider charging full p&p if I was meeting someone to collect. he was in the area anyway so not like he had to buy a train ticket down! Ebay also said the ‘right’ thing to do would be that he refund a portion of the p&p. They actually offered to email him for me but I refused, cos of feeling petty etc.

you could be a cunt and open an item not received case. I think within ten mins the post would be refunded...
-
• #1187
I think it all hinges on whether collecting from the daughter was decided for you, with no alternative, or whether it was something that was floated and you agreed to. Former, ask eBay to step in, later, wouldn't worry about it, as annoying as it is.

Hohoho, delightfully devilish uber!

• #1189
Yeah, talking it out has been cathartic. Just gunna get on with it. Glad to know everyone else thinks he’s a tit as well.
-
• #1190
You laugh but you'd get a full refund courtesy of Ebay's dysfunctional protection processes which would demand a tracking number from a seller charging you for shipping. Even if your emails said you'd received it, the onus is on him to prove that he sent it.

Seller rejected my offer & then won it for less than the offer, heh.

Have done this before. Feels good man

I list an item as collect only
someone bids, then is like, how much is postage to israel ?
I'm like, dude, more than the item is worth, please cancel your bid
bidder then says, no, they will not cancel their bid
I cancel their bid
they message me in a rage saying they are going to nerg me
-
• #1195
Lol... You should have quoted him an insane amount instead, that’s normally quite good at putting people off.

You'll probably wake up tomorrow with a 20ft wall annexing the half of your house with all the services in it because you're obviously a massive anti Semite and need to be contained.
Can someone nerg you for cancelling their bid anyway? I'd block them to make sure they can't bid right at the end just to rustle your jimmies.

Gah, busted.

I don't think they can. Which is why I replied egging them on. Then got eBay to prevent all non-uk bidders from bidding on my stuff. Brutal.

Last week someone bid on something I was selling and my description clearly specified what was included and linked to pics of those specific items and I clearly stated no International delivery, also confirmed in listing - eBay automatically added one or two items in the category specs - someone hit BIN then immediately, before paying, messaged to say obviously includes x,y,z which it patently didn't as per description and pics. When I politely referred back to my listing and the items specified they basically sent various shitty messages then said "I'll let you off of if you post for free, I expect a positive response" (are you fucking kidding mate?.... "Where are you?" I asked...."Japan". Bid/item cancelled 'problem with buyer's address'.
I swear people must make a living doing that shit. -

Buy it now'd some furniture and chose cash on collection. Seller messaged the day before we're due to pick up asking us to pay by PayPal as he's had issues before with buyers trying to haggle on collection and it might not be him around when we collect.
I'd rather do cash and have told him so, he's said that as the payment would be PayPal we're both adequately covered. Is that correct? Don't have any real problem with paying in advance just want to make sure it's not a scam or anything.

In some ways he putting himself at risk by asking for Paypal on a collect item, as there's no evidence that you've received what you've paid for and sellers have been scammed like that before.
I'm not aware of any scams from a buy point of view in these circumstances.
I bought a stem from eBay, it’s arrived but is in much worse condition than the pictures showed, what’s the best thing to do?
It’s an Enve stem and the matte black paint is really quite chipped / damaged in a few places
