  • For those not already committed to dancing naked around a bonfire why not celebrate the soltice with a roll around Essex? (Clothing optional but strongly encoraged particularly if you're spending any time on the front.)

38 pan flat miles up the Rodings and round the Easters. No 'spoons but a nice pub and chip shop at the end (time permitting).

Liverpool Street 19.18 arrives Ingatestone 19.45

Return trains 22.02, 22.32, last 23.02. There are also later departures from Shenfield which is just down the road.

Using YAL's route out from last year to get out. We both seem to be in the midst of a game of 'share an inappropriate route'. Will this be the route that breaks through the deadlock and gets someone to a ride on time and stress free??? Watch this space!

  • Mind if I tag along for the ride out again?

  • There's a fish and chip shop in Ingatestone. I'll be leaving with time to spare to grab some food there. It's getting rave reviews on Google Maps:

"Normally somewhere does either fish and chips well or kebabs well, but this place does both."

    "Great food"

"Possibly the best fish and chips in the whole wide world.."

"You could feed two adults and a child from their "medium " size kebab."

    "It's ok take away"

  • What time are you rolling from Old Street?

  • I'm probably going to have to get the train, but what time you leaving for the ride out?

  • Ha, great minds

  • Not long after 5pm is the plan. I finish early and the chippy from what I understand is quickish food opposed to fast food. What time suits you? And @Ruserius and @cagimaha

  • Let me see if the powers that be will let me out at 5...

I'm pretty sure @Ramsaye left all of these except #4

  • I can confirm the chippy is pretty decent

  • Looking at trying something like this as a route out, but not sure about it..
    Probably leaving aldgate around 5ish

  • Sounds cool, although it's probably a bit early for me. I'll keep you posted.

  • @jaeyukdapbap I can get out of work at 5 so could meet at the roundabout at the start of Lea Bridge Road at 5.30pm ish?

  • Ha, I was going to say that I'll be part of the train crew. Too bad for the chippy.

  • This is the 'classic' route to Southend which I've used to ride to Ingatestone before. Only done it on the weekend however. Please note I am NOT coming on this ride [out]

  • I'll be bringing a couple of colleagues along - I'll make sure they've Read The Rules(tm) beforehand

  • I'm thinking to pick up some train beers to stash as we often seem to be a bit short on pub time for this ride. Probably grab them from the Budgens by the chippy on the way out to the loop. There's a good stash spot I have in mind, don't want to say where it is in case there are beer thieves lurking on this thread.

  • I'm guessing a trawl of the bushes down Fryerning Lane any time after 8:15 could offer up rich pickings...

  • Oi! Careless talk costs beer.

  • Train beers are cool though I'm quite sure we stopped at the pub previously?
